Re: Road light mounts under the coolers?
I ride as though I'm not being seen as well...but, there was a test by the MSF a few years back & their opinion was the the triangle effect does draw attention. So I figure as long as I'm mounting lights for purposes of illumination...why not create the triangle in the process ?......I'll take a...

Re: Road light mounts under the coolers?
I have mine mounted under the coolers using the forward cooler cover screw which I replaced with about a 2" screw and nylock nut. I am very happy with the result. Gives me great night vision and daytime visibility (I am not sure which is the bigger benefit). Additionally, they are hidden there...

Re: Is the electrical / charging system really this wimpy?
Looking at specs on the new "wet-heads" 2015...I noticed the charge rate is lower than in the past. 42-45 amp [510 watt] as opposed to 50-60 amp [600-720 watt]....wondering why the change ? Particularly since electrical accessories seem more popular than ever.

I'm nowhere near you, but I'm plenty bat$hit crazy. Same thing here in ..lovely Ohio..<sarc> Now retired, thought a-bunch about relocating....but where to go ? Into the heat & humidity of the south, the pacific north[wet], California..most of which I can't afford, or the Hurricane magnet east c...

Re: Floor boards
I hope you find the right configuration. It seems to me that the floorboard one is unique to a certain geometry. I have rented Hd's while traveling and the the modern Guzzi's that I have ridden with them were very comfortable but after a life time of ridding European style, feet forward is somethin...

Re: Floor boards
49 years..Bravo..I have 50. To each his own. Edit; I was curious about the floor boards mounted on an R bike so was over to a friends house with a Guzzi that has them. Right off I could see that it will be a challenge to mount so the your ankle is not at an angle (toes up) that would be very uncomf...

Re: Floor boards
I hear you. In all the time I have been riding BMWs' I have never seen one with Floorboards,(oil head or airhead not even a CL). Seems completely out of character with the design theme of the machine. Its a quick nimble curve cutter as well as a great mile eater. I have a 35" inseam but I am i...

Re: Floor boards
Wow , The BMW R bikes are set up European riding style, with your feet under your ass. Maybe you should change machines to a more cruiser type like HD or a CL model BMW so you feet are more forward. Floor boards are not going to be any lower than pegs and moving them forward would pretty much destr...

Re: Floor boards
I will...but Ilium does list a set for the "RT"...I just thought those might be a closer fit, mounting, angle and all ?towerworker wrote:Only BMW I've ever seen with foot/floor boards was the R1200CL. You might look into those.

Floor boards
Has anyone ever installed / tried to install Ilium floorboards on an "R" I e-mailed them sometime back, and they said they did not make a set for it...but I wonder if another model might be the same & or fit ? RT for example. I have tried just about every other foot-peg up / down /forw...

Re: Full size system cases on R1150R… is it really possible?
Thank you all! I searched the forums some more and indeed found examples of adapting the left system case to accept the ‘bumped-out’ bracket. So just to make sure before I order my cases. For my 2004 R1150R I should order (both) System Cases that are listed for the R1150RT. The right case will be a...

I hope that we find an answer to the paint. I have an '02 that came Dakar/Ferro, with a fully ferro frame and black engine/tranny/FD. There are a few scratches that I would like to touch up. Anything regarding paint....I would contact Holt BMW in Athens,Oh. Have bought paint from them, & always...

Exhaust parts
I have a Z-Technik Ti exhaust "Y" pipe & muffler , does anyone know if the "lowering" elbow [for a full sized left bag] is still available ? & where I might find one ? also need the muffler & pipe retaining springs. Must have lost the small parts in a recent garage cl...

Re: Started sputtering after car wash, now won't start
A bit [OT] but was wondering. Has anyone ever tried to convert a "stick-coil" version to a conventional system ? I've seen such a thread on the ADV Rider forum, I think the author found coils from a certain Ford V8 worked well. He mounted a coil under the tank with an appropriate plug wir...

agreed with previous posts. but its not US they're after as customers. we already have BMW's. those who ride with it, love it. the rest of the world thinks telelever is weird LOL. That is very true..even after all this time, many times when I'm around other [non] BMW types. One of the first things ...

Re: Dark white / Light white
Dark white is a bit more subtle than the regular white. I have posted pics ... let me know if you have any other questions. So it is basically just a name ? A few dealers with them, list the dark white as a special edition. And yet [in the pic] I see no difference between them and any other color &...

Dark white / Light white
Maybe a dumb question but...is there a visual difference ? Looking around on the net,the pics I see of each...I can't tell????? Am considering a 1200, and I like the white...but which one ? Of course i also like the Anniversary edition and the classic. I have no close dealer to go look...[100mi]..th...
