Re: Do we need more users?

Hard to find new people with a motorcycle aging out. Like parts no longer being offered it's just evolution of the hobby/sport/enthusiast. Even on Adventure rider you only see the same users on the 1150r thread. I watch other threads also like the R1100S and not much is posted anymore, the occasiona...

Re: Seats

I've had 8 RDL seats made, all ride ins. Watched the guys put them together and never saw any wood in the shop or put into the seats. They have that leaf spring deal in a couple different configurations, I guess rates. they actually use most of your factory foam cutting it back and gluing on theirs ...

Re: What's next for your 1150?

I actually ride more in the colder weather, however it is down in the valleys rather than the mountains. Hoping to get this R1100S BCR rolling with the Ohlins. Maybe a couple more weeks before the front shock is installed. Didn't get the spacers on the shipment Were is everyone's location. I'm at 2,...

Re: What's next for your 1150?

I've never ridden a Rockster. Lights for me only come into use when caught out, usually/rarely ride in the dark. Riding long distances and weeks on the road teaches you how to pack lite and only take what you really need. Learned the advantage of todays clothing were you can wash it at night and it ...

Re: What's next for your 1150?

I've heard good about the Nitron Shocks. The Russel seat works very good, especially on long days. Did our last years summer ride of 6-7,000 miles and both the R1150R's had Russel seats. Never been to big on auxiliary lights but have installed the Weiser blinker upgrade lights on all our R bikes. Es...

Re: What's next for your 1150?

02 R1150R abs. Riding it a lot, probably my favorite bike. Put Ohlins on it last year and a new Sargent seat this year. Rides and handles great, it's my Cafe Racer. Continental Sport attach 3 are great on this bike. Probably not many miles for the winter cold, no protection. 04 R1150R. All year ridi...

Re: Seats

We have them on two of our 1150R's. Best seat ever for these bikes. I recently bought a Sargent and it's very good, but if on a long trip the RDL would be my choice.

Re: 2 year review

Just for the records here, I've contacted Ted at The Beemer Shop and he is getting me some Tractive shocks to replace the TFX that just weren't right for this bike.

Re: 2 year review

Make sure to post a review of the Hyperpro's. Re-installed the TFX replacements on our 02 and they just don't seem to give the ride that the Ohlin's do. Going to have to review this with Ted at the Beemer Shop and see what we can do to make them work better.

I knew Ohlins wouldn't make them anymore and no more stock anywhere. Hyperpro looks like a nice set up.

Re: 2004 R1150R value

Unless your planning on not riding anymore it isn't worth selling. They are great bikes to ride and not really outdated as far as styling in my opinion. It's hard to invest money for new equipment/parts but rewarding, like shocks. Travelling every summer on long rides I'm always amazed at the number...

Re: ticking valves, left side after adjustment

I'd back everything off, inspect and reset, in the middle of specs.

Re: 2 year review

It's important to set the sag correctly. This will give the full benefit of how the shocks work with the bike. It's not just how the bike rides but how the weight transfers under braking or acceleration. The new shocks make for much better contact between the tires and the road with the right amount...

Re: 2 year review

I should have added this to the above.
If you like the way new tires feel so much better than the old worn out tires the new shock will do the same but about ten times better.

Re: 2 year review

Ohlins or any shock probably will need to be rebuilt around 20-25,000 miles. The OEM ones don't last that long, you can still ride them but they aren't doing much to enhance the ride. Ohlin's USA has a service for rebuild that has them back to original specs and are cost efficient. Just had a front ...
