My '04 is pushing 80,000 miles and still going strong. Only real problems I've had are the primary spark plug coils going out on me. Otherwise, typical maintenance.

I patched a Z6 in the past (I had to look at my service log). I put on about 2000 miles after patching it so my plug worked. I have the standard gooey rope plugs with straightforward tools. I don't recall it being hard to ream and plug; I've plugged Dunlops too and my memory is the same for them all...

If you're cylinder heads are scraping the ground, then it's too late. You'll scrape your shoe (if riding lazy, like Vann explained), possibly your centerstand (depending on pre-load), then the footpeg before the heads scrape. About the Beemer OilHeads, a bad O2 sensor should set a trouble code -and- your fuel economy will worsen ~4MPG highway (with the yellow CCP installed). . One of the biggest differences between the R1100 and R1150 layouts is the addition of a sixth gear. If you're planning on putting on some highway miles, then go with the R1150RT.
