Re: February

The R1150's came with a 700 watt alternator, and while I've never run two sets of heated gear (I wish) I've never had any low voltage symptoms of any kind. I typically run a full heated liner and the grips in the winter months. The F800's I understand came with a 400 watt generator. Not sure if ther...

Re: February

Tigcraft--- Looks like you've cleaned out the garage. I sure understand the desire for some change. I started on my RT two days ago and pulled off the fairing. As I got under it I find other stuff that I need to address (or should). The previous owner ad a rats nest of wiring for accessories. That h...

Re: February

On that note......I've put my Rt in my garage for some winter service. I need to do an ABS service as well as TB sync and valve adjust. I have a new Odyssey battery to install as well. It's cold here with some snow still lying around and frankly cold weather riding is not the fun it once was. Some o...

DB as Harry said I too am sorry to see you s\give up riding but I fully understand and applaud you for your selflessness. I'm nearing 67 and have been thru many health crisis(s) myself but at this point in my life I am alone and no one really depends on me. I kinda wish that was not the case but it ...

Re: The December check in thread....

You've made it a bit clearer for me as to the why of what's been happening. Well....one little of bit of something new for me...I picked up a project bike last week. Something that was my first bike when I was 17 back in 1972. I was a senior in high school. I paid $450 for a 1969 Harley Davidson SS3...

Riceburner....actually I was able to solder directly to the brass case of the old bulb as well as the +tip of the case which I think was lead.

Re: 2002 R1150R speedo backlight

I changed mine many years ago and actually fashioned a replacement LED from the existing burnt bulb. It wasn't difficult as I remember. I think a single hex screw from the back of each tach/speedo and the instrument pulled out, giving easy access to the bulbs. I'm going from memory here so forgive m...

Re: Liqui-Moly?

I've been running Lucas gear oil (80/90) for well over 100,000 miles now(with moly). I could add 50K to that but that was on a previous R that is no longer with us. But I've been running a moly additive (Guard Dog) in both on each FD service. One ounce per FD oil change. FD is still going strong in ...

Liqui-Moly?

Wondering if any have used their products? I’ve run Guard Dog Moly in my final drive for maybe 15 years. 104k on an ‘04 and 52k so far on my ‘05 with no FD issues. The Guard Dog company ceased business several years ago and I’m on my last 16 oz bottle of their gear oil additive. Liqui Moly 20012 SAE...

Re: What's on the To Do list?

My RT is an '05 so it's still the oilhead. And yes I really love the electric windshield. Probably my favorite feature. No bun warmer though.

Winter is around the corner.

Antifreeze service................now to find that radiator cap buried behind the RT fairing.

Re: Just checking in... and Rockster rebuild

Hello again to all! Early last year I had sold my 104K 2004 R when I bought an '05 RT. A few months ago I bought it back when the new owner had become somewhat fearful of motorcycles when a friend of his son was injured on one. He had put less than 100 miles on it but had managed to do a tad bit of...

Re: Battery Access and Starter Problem Resource

I too have an '04 and I understand your plight. To do all of what's necessary to get close to the battery you may as well remove the tank. I never have understood BMW's design on battery location. I know that's not the answer you want but tank removal is really a fairly easy procedure (much easier i...

Re: Looking for a sport/touring shield + brackets for an '04 R

Glad to see you back in action. I wonder if you find yourself comparing R to RT, you don't end up selling the big boat. The R1150R is heavy enough. As to being mystified....something must be in the air....I've never had so much trouble understanding what people say and do. I like the RT on the free...

Re: Looking for a sport/touring shield + brackets for an '04 R

That looks interesting. I believe I read in the post that it has it's own mounts? Does not require the OEM mounts? Another benefit is that you're just down the road from me. Let me get this bike back in my possession and I'll contact you. I'm still mystified that this fella would remove a windshield...

Looking for a sport/touring shield + brackets for an '04 R

Spring of '20 I sold my 2004 R and bought an 05 RT. The fella that bought my 04 is wanting to sell it back to me as I think he's gotten a bit nervous about riding. (This was his first bike) I'll probably buy it back but the darn guy pulled the BMW touring screen plus a brand new laminar lip and toss...
