shifting on a K12R VS R1150R

Post by dwayne »

I only have experience on an R1150R, which liked to be shifted between 4 ~ 4.5 K. What is the comfort spot for the K12R? I don't want to set any land speed records, just for normal shifting.

Dwayne..I had a K1200R for the weekend and I found that it did not matter where I shift.

The bike has so much power..and torque..that it can handle low rev gear changes without lugging the engine.

My guess for best performance would be gear changes close to redline.

That would be pretty hazardous around town.

In traffic, I generally shift between 4 and 6k. But really I just go by what feels right. If i'm just cruising along I keep it pretty sedate, but if i'm trying to make a freeway entrance on a short ramp i'll rip it on up to 11k in 2nd (and then I have to slow back down to somewhere close to the speed limit).
