Non-Mission Capable K1200R
First, I want to be clear that both BMW (local service techs) and USAA (local claims adjuster) are doing their jobs well. But this one is complicated.
Review: truck turned in front of me. K-R wrecked.
Current: BMW Svc tech says total due to engine casing cracked. USAA wants additional examination before a repair or replace decision. It's gonna be close. At 75% of the depreciated value, USAA salvages anyway. Parts appear to be in the $8K range without an engine replacement, etc.
If it's repaired, I lose the use of it all summer (60-90 days awaiting parts and rebuilding). If it's totaled, I lose a few days for paperwork before turning over a new one - probably another KR (Morton's has 9 in stock).
Looks like the Bash is not going to see my KR. I am still planning to attend, however.

Sorry to hear Mike. If it is totalled, the newer K-Rs have the upgraded display (much sharper... you will like it)
I think I will bring mine to the Bash after all. I'll try to stay out of any group pics
Glad you are ok my friend and I hope the adjusters do right by you.

That's probably a good idea! Of course, we still want your bike in any group shots!
(Just kidding, COH)
Mike - sorry to hear about the insurance hassle but glad to hear you still plan to attend.

Mike,
Holt BMW, located about 35 miles from the Bash, has a K1200R sitting there calling your name. Here is a pic.

K-R Kaput
Totaled. Settled. Checks in the mail.
Tomorrow visit Morton's to recover my aftermarket accessories that are re-usable. Maybe talk to Steve about rolling over a new one if USAA and BMWFS get the paper in order.
As of tonight, I am whole on all invested and current losses.
Maybe I should fold'em now. I'll sleep on it.

Business
RB,
Don't know the comparison from there to here, but it is a closely run business: manufacturers, finance companies, banks, government (Federal and State), and insurers (and re-insurers, etc). They do hundreds/thousands a day and I am a one timer.
Don't know the depth and breadth of their decision cycle nor how to influence the outcome favorably. I got lucky this time.
Best of luck to you.
