Dual FIAMM Horn Setup - Pics?

Post by pjbmw »

Has anyone got pictures of a set of dual FIAMM horns on there R1150R? I have a set I want to put on, but want to see where they can go. Does not look like they would fit in the same area as the stock horn. Do I need to upgrade the wiring for them?

I installed my dual FIAMM horns under the beak. You don't see them at all. I thought I had some pictures, but I can't seem to find them. The horns I purchased came with a 3 - 4" straight metal mounting brace. I had to put about a 90 degree twist in the brace to mount them. I'll try to take a couple of pictures in the next few days.

I don't think you have to upgrade the wiring, but it's not a bad idea. I did. I purchased a standard automotive horn relay and used the old horn circuit to control the new relay. I ran larger gauge wire directly from the battery, fused of course.

Alright. Here's some pictures. The horns are mounted under the beak as shown here:

You can see here that there's plenty of clearance between the horns and the tire. The horns are also mounted so that any water that enters will drain.

This picture shows the mounting points. I used the existing screws. Also you can see how I twisted the horn mounting brackets that came with the horns.

And, it's all concealed under the beak.

I've had these horns for two or three years now and haven't had a bit of problem out of them. They're loud but not as loud as the air horns some people use. I just want to get peoples attention. I don't necessarily want to induce a bladder control issue for someone.

I don't want to hi-jack this thread but, touchton, would you mind telling me something about the auxiliary lights you've fitted to the fork legs of your bike? I think they look great! ...pm me, if you like :)

Those are Motolights with the caliper mounts. They're a bit pricey, but they work real well.

Here's their website: http://www.motolight.com/default.php
