Guy was helping me work on rerouting cables on my 1150r and at one point a spark jumped out of around the instrument cluster, I didn't think much of it, but next morning I noticed clock had stopped. I'm hoping it's just a blown fuse, but I have two questions.
1) Owners manual says the fuse for the clock also is fuse for the speedo. So if the speedo still works, does that mean it's not the fuse and may be a greater problem?
2) I know, I know, just check the fuse. But for some reason my tool kit does not have the spare fuses or the fuse puller. Does my bike just use a standard 10 amp automotive fuse that I can get at any auto supply store? And can I use needle nose pliers to pull the fuses, and if not, where can I get a fuse-pulling tool? Only the BMW dealer?
(Oops - that's more than two questions.)
Thanks in advance.

Re: fuse and clock questions
1) Check the fuse
2) Yes, yes and yes
3) Do you still have the nylon ties on the wire bundles under the instrument cluster/light, if so and the fuse is OK, you might have a broken wire in the bundle as a result of too tight nylon ties from the factory.
Do a search,a lot has been written on the nylon ties
Good luck.

Re: fuse and clock questions
If a spark jumped out of the instrument cluster, there is a new short in there. It's likely you stretched and grounded the clock power wire as you were "re-arranging" the harnesses. That's the only "hot" 12V wire in there when the key is off. Remove the front chrome plastic instrument case and find the short BEFORE you change the fuse that blew.
