Brand new Ztechnik stainless steel exhaust system with muffl
What are the upsides, and downsides of this system? I would like a full size left bag, but is this system worth it for the full saddlebag and performance? Thanks.

Pros: more open exhaust=more airflow=more HP...
Cons: more ariflow=hotter running engine(fuel actually helps cool down combustion)=increased wear on engine parts. (this part depends on how lean the bike is running.
If you really need the extra room of two full size saddlebags, then go for it. If you just WANT the extra room of two full size saddlebags, learn to pack lighter. With two full size bags, and the amount of stuff you can strap on the bike with no passenger, its pretty easy to over-weight the bike, which can cause handling problems, increased shock wear (if you always ride it full of stuff), and a general sense of "now where did I put my____."
I have a full Remus and love the sound, and the moderate increase in performance. Also did a month long trip with the stock bags (one big one small), and my camping stuff strapped on the seat and rack. Never got to a point where I needed something that i didn't have room for (infact, i over-packed as it was).
just my .05 (you get an extra 3 cents there for inflation)

I need to get a new picture up as I do not have that helmet anymore. Got a deal on an Arai.

Of course it all depends on how you want the bike to sound, too, and how loud.
As just another option -
I heard a sound clip once of a Super Trapp muffler on an older airhead with the
end plate and it sounded really nice - mellow yet powerful. A clip with the end
plate removed sounded like a loud 2 cycle, very raspy and irritating.
And you can get those in "universal" fit, actually made for hot rods, that are
the same thing as their motorcycle specific mufflers but often for a lot less.
Here are some examples. They are all available in different case lengths and
inlet diameters, also in black.

Both SuperTrapp and Summit have polished SS hangers that would work, too.

Re: Brand new Ztechnik stainless steel exhaust system with muffl
Didn't someone here install a SuperTrapp already? Or at least we all talked about the option... maybe 2-3 years ago? There's an old school appeal for that type system...
I remember looking at SuperTrapp models 443-2010 and 443-2011, at same time spec'ing a custom cat-replacement y-pipe with 1.75 inlets and 2.00" outlet.
Doesn't the stainless ZTechnik have "for life" internal insulation/construction? Its exhaust note might thus be a bit different from glass-pack.

I too have a ZTechnik system, y-pipe/can in titanium (traded for my OE Rockster system). The exhaust sounded pretty bad when installed - "petulant flatulance" might be apt description. Loud and obnoxious. But that was until I repacked the muffler this year, with resulting exhaust note that's now pretty good! The former roudy & raspy was due to almost NO fiberglass remaining in my 2nd hand muffler.A friend has the Ztechnik system, and having ridden thousands of miles with him I can say this system would not suit me well. It is louder than the familiar modification of removing the muffler and running just the catalyst.

Yep. I am still running the ugly short Supertrapp tip. I think it is a very good sound level (versus CAT-only, with or without tip).
I do need to update the links to the photos I took of my install.
