Using clock receptacle as a location for some other device

Post by Rider Rick »

Hi guys, I've been looking for a spot to mount a gps screen. I have RAM options, but I started thinking about the clock area. I don't really use the clock, and started wondering if something could be fabbed to act as a frame for something that could mount there and be tucked up under the shield, etc. Just thinking out loud. I also wonder now if something like a volt/amp gauge could be housed there if one the right diameter could be found, come to think of it.

You probably could. There is a ram mount adapter that fits in the cetnerhole of the triple tree. Is that the same size as the clock?

But I would never remove that clock. I love the retro look of it. I miss it on my r12. And I often look at it for the time even when the key is off. And it keeps good time.

Yes it does, Doc :)...but always remember to unplug it when you store your bike for a few months, lol. It done me wrong, hehe. I'll check out the Ram mount for the ttt...right now my Rams are on the bars. I still like the idea of a gauge there that would show volts/amps or something more useful than a clock, but I agree, it does look nice.

If you're looking for something like an oil temp gauge in lieu of the clock there are threads on this forum on that, from over the years.

do a search and you should find it. And thanks for the reminder about the drain from the clock. My Stella! is doing just that.
