Need a new Ignition coil stick. Do you know a cheap place?
I need to replace a broken ignition coil and the dealer wants to charge me $140 just for the stick. Does anybody knows of a cheaper place where I can get this piece?
I have already checked ebay and all I found is used parts in not such a good shape at a very high price.
Thanks

5 yrs ago I paid about $220-$230 for the pair and that was just not far above my dealer's cost (or so he said) but I couldn't find them any cheaper any where else. I doubt you'll save all that much anyway. If the other coil is the original better be prepared to replace it as well.

I will be doing this when my next stick coil fails.

I ordered a pair of coils on sale for $199. form Euromoto. Great deal compared to Canadian dealer prices. I think if one coil is on it's way out it is probably better to replace the pair.

Some time ago I had wondered if a person couldn't similarly use the regular type coils that fire
the bottom plugs - I looked at the wiring diagram and it seemed to come from the same
connection at the spark controller.
At least the coils would be properly matched to the BMW system.
With those, I'd just use regular plug wires and something like the long bakelite plug
wire holders like the old Hemi's used to use just to hold the wire stiff so it can be
pushed firmly onto the plug.

I'd just hook up the trigger wires and the voltage feed wires that the sticks use to the coils just like the bottom coils come from the factory.

Ok, for the U.S.- based folks, stick coils are stupid expensive $106-$173 at the dealers. I found the Beru part number 0040100385 on Amazon.de for $58 each including shipping. I have 2 on order.

Yes, and the new stock of Beru stick coils for our bikes now comes with a stainless steel sleeve that is supposed to better resist condensation-caused corrosion.
This is the list of people I'd trust with my bike
Re: Need a new Ignition coil stick. Do you know a cheap place?
I put 50 miles on my new BERU stick coils today. Wow, it idles perfectly. It runs much, much better. Makes me think I’ve had a one or both of them inop or intermittent for a long time.
