I went with the Shinkos last year when I replaced them. I like them. Took a couple of hundred miles to get used to then turn in but now they are great. But, I need to repair the hole I got in the rear from something I pick up. Ggggrrrr

I've had several sets of Bridgestones. I like the T-30 Front, and the rear is OK. Good mileage and grip on front. Good grip but not great mileage on the rear. May be wicking it up too much.

Bridgestones came on the R when purchased, not bad. Will be replacing with Michelin PR3's or 4's. Stick like glue, wear like stone and are absolutely incredible in the rain.
Spend the money rubber now....or plastic and plaster (casts) later. ;)

tundra... I must respectfully disagree on your money spending comment.

I have about 700 miles on those 009's now. thoroughly impressed. actually corner better. even in the wet.

if they last NEAR as long as the Metzelers or continentals, or even Michelins, I don't see a reason Ill use anything else. other than, some fancy starbucks adventure rider BMW folks disapproving my choice. LOL

Let us know how they hold up. The reviews look positive :https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D1ivQGpNnHU
I have run through several sets of PR2's and now PR3's on a Kawi C-14 and now the Bandit 1250. I don't buy them to impress anyone. I use them because they work great for touring and backroad riding for myself. Only expressing my tire opinion....and never at Starbucks ;)

LOL

you dont enjoy a good 7 dollar coffee flavored sugar every now and again? :)

I try to operate on a miles per dollar agenda. I want them to last long enough, so that when I ask my wife to drop them off at the shop for me, she doesnt say, "good lawd, didnt you just get tires?"

the bandit was a my dream bike WAAAY back when. an evolution of the good old suzuki gs1000 upon which I first learned to ride.

Ha indeed. I laugh every time I go to the airport and the foo foo coffee lines are longer than the TSA lines.
Had the 1997 Bandit 1200S right when they came out, fantastic. A few Motorcycles later and was drawn back to the UJM Bandit platform.
With good tires of course ;)
Gratuitous current photo....

I also met an RT rider who got 12k out of his. which is good for that heavy monster. AT 125$ if I get 8k of them ill be happy.

so.... I'm gambling I guess. but youll never convince me that high cost = quality.

Ill certainly make an honest "from a cheapskates point of view" review of them after I ride on them. :)
I have ran Shinko 009 Ravens since the original tires wore...I just returned from a trip out west to Nevada and blazing heat. I have 8k on them now and maybe another 1k plus left. I have never had a bad experience with them and I change them with a Harbor Freight tire moto add on? I now have 77k on the bike and am very pleased with the cheap price and longevity of the tires? I must admit I dont spark the foot pegs BUT at 67 I dont have to? Hope you have as good of luck as I have.

You takes your choice and pays your money.
For such a crucial safety item as a tyre, it's overpriced Michelin PR for me - every time. I know I'm subsidising fleets of smartarse French department heads posing around in top-of-the-range company Mercs., but the fact is that their bike tyres work better than most other brands in dry and wet weather.

On my precious Citroën DS 23 Pallas there was a set of Eastern European tyres when I first bought it from a guy who then "traded up" to a new Rolls Royce. At first I wasn't too impressed with the DS's so-called legendary float-on-a-cloud ride. Until I replaced the crap tyres with Michelins on the advice of an old Citroën dealer. The true extent of the incredible ride comfort and faultless handling was immediately revealed.

A few months later, the previous owner, guy who'd bought the Roller, turned up. I took him on short ride with the DS wearing the newish Michelins. He immediately asked me if I wanted to sell the car back to him.
This is the list of people I'd trust with my bike

thanks for the comment. so far so good. 1500ish miles.... I sense NO difference from the higher cost brands now. Corners just as well.

i went with the stinko 009 mostly because of this thread.

switched from avons that had some time but i picked up a nail in the rear, so for less than the cost of your pilot three rear, i am rolling a new set of rubber that is going to be just fine.

have spent the money on metz, mich, pirelli, dunlop, conti, bridges, and they all wear out in just about the same time. i am not a racer, i ride fast and corner hard cos i don't eat chicken strips.

thanks for all the great info

I totally agree with the Pirelli's. I bought a 2011 R1200RT in 011 and have put 69k miles on it.
(now it's for sale, too old, bad back, girlfriend unable to ride, etc etc)
Anyway, tried all the popular brands, the best of them got 12k miles.
The Pirelli Angels have done 15k twice, and handle as good as any of them.
