Are groin injuries in motorcycle accidents common?

Post by MThomas »

As part of my protective gear I usually wear a cup.
That's probably the most hassle to go through when gearing up though I could save some time if I went with a removable cup short in lieu of the jock strap.

The stats on accidents only break it down by injury or deat, not by body part (hip, knee, elbow, shoulder, groin, etc.)

Do you wear a cup when riding...and why or why not?

I need to go to the toilet now and again. Difficult enough with a set of thermals over my underwear. And at my age the groinal area is less important.

I wore one for many years behind the plate as a catcher. Took it off as soon as I could! Think I'll pass!

With this (no affiliation) or something like it you can wear it as an underpants and insert and remove the cup as needed:

MAYBE for off road riding. Certainly not for road riding. Mountain Biking is the only time I've had my junk take a hit.

Since 2001 I've accumulated 150K and my only m/c related injury was a broken leg.
