Aux light mounts

Post by ron prior »

What manufacture was it that made some really nice aluminum [fork] mounts for aux lights, on the 1150 "Roadster's" non-round fork tubes? They mounted on the tubes just below the seal area.

I have seen them , but just cannot remember what brand they were, have googled & googled cannot find them .................TIA

Maybe it would be worth trying the website for some of the "major" BMW dealers like Max's, or A&S in Sacramento, maybe BMW Motorrrad or Blue Moon.

I found it. It is Luma-link......http://lumalink.com/lumalink_brackets.html

They really do, IMO make a nice product.

I got some PIAA 1100X lights on ebay from a victory dealer closeout. My night vision is waning, and wanted the extra lights near my headlight for night riding.

I found these made for the R1150R, and mount using the headlight bolt.

Trouble with those is that they are so close to the headlight that they're not great for conspicuity - helping another rider/driver judge your location and speed. For that a forks or frame/tank mounting is more effective. Personally, that's at least as important as better night vision.

I got these cheapo Chinese fork clamps available in either black or chrome. They're supposed to be for a Hardly DoesAnything, but they fit nicely on our Telelever fork downtubes.

Get them for flumpence from "that" auction site...

After giving up night riding for almost 4 years, and finally able to do it again, was most important.

No argument there,sj. The added light make a huge difference with night driving. I'm enjoying it too. Much better to see the deer with!
