Pilot Road 3

Post by harveyrawn »

I've been running PR3 tire front and rear tires on my R1150R. It's time for a new rear tire, but the PR3 170/60-17ZR doesn't seem to be available. What rear tire can I get that will mate well with my PR3 front tire?

I agree. I have done the same through the years as the one model is going away and the new model will usually take it's place.

Michelin is now up to Version 5 of the Pilot Road series. M/cycling Mo has just invested in a pair for his GS-A year 2004. Brilliant rubber, he says.

I have been running Michelin Road 5's for around 3,000 miles - overall the tyres give good feedback especially in the wet and seem to wear well but they are expensive compared to the Road Pilot 4 - In the UK I can still get Road Pilot 2's so will be going back to them when I need to change.

Also have PR-3’s in the Bandit.
Stick like glue and wear like stone, just like the PR-4’s on the Roadster. I will continue to buy Pilot Roads, price be damned.
As a tire supplier at BIR raceway used to say.

I liked the Pilot Road 1 the best of all of them. I ran several sets of the Bridgestone T-30 before I sold the 1150R. The Anakee 3s that my 800GS was fitted with have been very good in all riding conditions and could mate up with a PR3. May be a few bucks less than the PR4 too. Michelin has become very proud of their tires.
