I did my 2nd track day this weekend. I forgot to pack freash batteries, so no video this time.
The slow guys where buggin' me last time out, so I moved up to the "B" group, much better pace. I could keep up with most of the bikes in the twisties, but the 1000s (and that damm Ducati 1098) crushed me on the front straight.
I bought and installed the BMW plastic head guards thinking that I could get them down in the turns. Not gonna happen. Other things touch down 1st.
Had a great time, I recommend Indie Motorsports Ranch to anyone in the SW looking for fun.
Sweet shot!!! Now that just shows what the R12R is all about. Leaning in the curves!!! Love it. Great shot. If only something could show it's an R12R, I say this is a calendar shot!!

Yup, track day on the stock Michelin Pilot Road tires. Im too cheap to buy new tires while these still have plenty of tread left. I got the back end sliding a bit late in the day, but considering it was 107 degrees, I think they held up well. The front stayed planted the entire day.
Ground clearence was defintly more of a limiting factor then the tires. If I had "unlimited budget", here's a short list of things that I would do to make the R12R more track friendly.
1: Remove center stand
2: Rear set pegs and controlls (does the R12S stuff fit?)
3: Lower handle bars
4: Ohlins suspension with ride height adjusters
5: Sticky race tires
6: Swing arm slider
7: Hp stuff last (pipes, power cmdr, air filter etc)
But since I still have to ride the bike on the street, Im not gonna do any of that anytime soon.
Maybe the swing arm slider.
BTW: That pic was taken after the 2nd session. I ground down the hero pegs, then took them off after the 1st (you can see they are gone). I've got even less brake lever left now
Yah Tarmac I was making a comment about the Micky Pilot Road because I made a song and dance about them in a post of mine. LETS TALK TYRES and commented on how good they are. Well taking them to the track and getting the pegs down is a clear indication in my book that the tyre is very capable of holding in there, it also gives a great deal of milage too.
With the back starting to slid a bit most high end tyres will do the same as well, there just letting you know that the grip is running out and we are going to slid now!
