I have a Givi E52, which I find very useful. It fits my backpack, carrying my laptop and even a few other things. On a recent trip, I had my backpack, carrying my computer, my wife's computer below it, our rain gear and sundry other things in there. I like it a lot and wanted to use it on my R1200R.
I contacted both Twisted Throttle and Revzilla, and both said that the E193 would not work on my bike, that it would only fit the RT. After talking to a couple of people, and being told that the rack was the same on both bikes, I decided to risk it.
I spent some time trying to install it yesterday, but I couldn't quite figure out how to place the plates under the rack.
This morning, I found this thread on another forum. That made all the difference.
I now have the adapter installed and it seems to be very sturdy. I'm glad I don't have to buy another, possibly less useful, case and can instead keep what works for me.
So, if you want to have a Givi topcase on your R1200R, and you already have the BMW top rack, the Givi E193 seems to work very well.
(I also have the BMW side bags on my bike, but would rather have my Givi E41s mounted. I'll probably keep the BMW cases on there at this point, even though they have less capacity and are not as convenient for storage. Alas.)

Re: Givi E193 Topcase Rack Adapter
I have a Givi Monokey E360 (40 Liter) case that I had on my last bike that I would like to use. I had been looking at the E193 adapter plate or the SW-Motech adapter plate, does anyone know which one fits better with less adjusting/longer bolts/drilling holes? I really wish the BMW racks were easier to use with aftermarket cases.
I plan on taking my case off when not being used, so asthetics are somewhat important to me.

Re: Givi E193 Topcase Rack Adapter
Interesting. I also have an E52 which was wired up with brake lights on my VFR. I kept the case when I sold the VFR, figuring I'd mount it on the R1200R but it's a little ridiculous that there hasn't been an easy, clean solution. I don't like to put a ton of weight in my topcase, but it's nice to be able to put my helmet in there when I stop and if I'm on a long ride with the sidebags full and raingear in the topcase, that's a no-go. Also, my fiancé says the stock case is uncomfortable - even with the back "pad." Plus, no taillight.
I heard the E193 works, but while that doesn't exactly look horrible it's not super clean either. Shakey posted a really slick solution that I planned to do myself - even bought some of the parts - but then heard that the Givi SR5100 will be out in November. I'm going to wait to see what that looks like before I decide.
So the options are:
1. Stick with the 28L. Already paid for, and looks nice. Meh...
2. Buy the big BMW topcase. Crazy expensive and no taillight. It would have the slick BMW attachment. Still pretty meh...
3. Mount an E103, but remove the silver rack cover and perhaps trim the E193 to fit over the grid a bit more. Hmm...
4. Use Shakey's solution. Pretty slick and keeps the grabrails on th eBMW luggage but wouldn't accommodate the Givi power connector. Not sure I care about that, plus it's another piece of Touratech kit on the bike and that makes me look hardcore.
5. Use the SR5100 when it comes out. Since it appears to work with the sidecase-only mounts, I'd lose the grabrails but it should be pretty clean-looking, although there aren't really any good pictures out yet of the SR5100 on a bike so I'm not sure how good it'll be. The stated weight limit is pretty low which also makes me doubtful. I would be able to use the Givi quick release power connector but if I end up going an AdMore kit to get signals in the case too that won't matter.
So it's down to either 4 or 5 to me. I'll probably figure it out in the next couple months. I was out on a four day ride recently and the small topcase definitely pissed me off a couple times.

6kg for the SR5100 can't be right. You'd only be able to carry pillows or helium balloons.

Re: Givi E193 Topcase Rack Adapter
SF_Hooligan,
Thanks for the advice!
After researching the GIVI SR5100 rack I am not sure if it would work with the stock BMW (Optional) rack. It looks like you would have to remove the factory rack and lose having the ability to have side bags.
For me I think "Shakey's" method will work the best. I wonder if Tourtech would a batch of them without the tail flip that needs to be removed? I think having that slot in the back would help tie-down soft bags/duffel style bags.
Objectuser,
Can you post a couple pictures of your final product? I have not seen one of the GIVI adapters on the R1200R, but researching here I find pictures of the rack and ways to modify it to fit the stock rack.
Thanks,
Ben "bmorehead"

Re: Givi E193 Topcase Rack Adapter
Nope. From what I can tell from the limited info online and the emails I exchanged with Twisted Throttle and Givi, you use the stock sidebag "racks." You DON'T lose the ability to have sidebags - the previous Givi setup for the R1200R was like this, you had to use Givi rack/bags all around. I don't want to do that. It is a bit unclear whether you use the stock grabrails or the SR5100 replaces that entire thing. I have the optional topcase rack and it would replace that - thus the loss of the bigger grabrails. Not too keen on that.bmorehead wrote:...After researching the GIVI SR5100 rack I am not sure if it would work with the stock BMW (Optional) rack. I agree that Shakey's method looks the best but I'd like to see photos of Objectuser's setup as well. I also have a spare Givi plate left over from my VFR that I've thought about trying to adapt but it would be ugly.

My setup looks like the one in the link in the first post. I didn't do anything different or special.
