Oil Pressure Light

Post by vroomr »

I just noticed something on my '07 that, for all I know, might've been this way for 8 years: if I stall the engine the oil pressure light does not come on (the owner's book says it should flash).

The light comes on in the self-test.

Can someone test this on theirs and tell me if the light comes on as the documentation says it will?

Also, where is the sending unit located?

Based on downloaded owner manuals, it looks like newer (2012 & up) Rs don't even have the idiot light. Hmmm. Boy, I'd really like to know if the oil idiot light flashes as documented on any R so equipped. Is this something that was never implemented, or do I have a defect?

Anyone? Does the light flash/illuminate with ignition on and engine not running?

Thanks. Wonder what brain cell awoke and made me look at this. The only time I would have noticed it is when I stop the engine by lowering the kickstand while in gear, but I guess I was lulled into complacency by the startup self-test.
