dash symbal
I get a orange triangle and a engine icon foe then seconds right before I start up.
It does not stay on or come on when riding.
Any ideas before I take it to the dealer?
Bike is a 2014 with 4000 mi.

Would removing the charcoal can read as a fault?
Re: dash symbal
Didn't for me.

Removing the canister won't - but I believe removing the electronic vacuum valve will. The system monitors that valve. Open circuit would cause an emission fault, which will light up the light.darkwhite wrote:Would removing the charcoal can read as a fault?

Thanks everyone, had my dealer, Max BMW in N.Hampton N.H. and it looks like every bike on the showroom floor with my same dash does the same thing, May have been a software update when they did my service last month.its part of the pre ride check and just stays on longer than the other lights,
Its only a fault if the triangle and icons don't go out when the bike is running.

Probably "Lamp Test" so you know the test circuit and indicator are working. ABS symbol does the same thing.

I think (CYA: but I'm 99% positive) the ABS light stays on until the bike is moving.

For what it is worth, a fault is triggered but removing the vacuum valve doesn't trigger a malfunction indicator on the dash. Unless of course I don't know what the vacuum valve is. I pulled the canister and that electronic contraption that was connected to one of the hoses. I get a fault when I check the codes but nothing on the dash.

Removing the carbon canister or the purge valve won't show a light on the dash but it will show a fault on the OBD tester. The purge valve is under the front LH side of the fuel tank. Leave the valve plugged in and plug it's hose fittings. No fault codes will come up.
Be sure and plug the hose fitting on the LH throttle body.
