Help with F650

Post by TicTac50 »

I know that some of you guys have or had BMW F650.
I have a 2003 F650 CSA. Today I changed oil in that bike for the first time.
Pulled the drain plug from the bottom and drained the oil from the frame too.
I installed new oil filter and filled the bike with 3 quarts of oil.
Of course I’ve decided to read the manual after and not before.
Owners Manual reads 2.4 litters for the engine and 2.6 litters with oil filter.
I found nothing in the manual about the amount of oil in the frame.
3 Quarts will be about 2.8 litters. Did I overfill by 0.2litters / 8oz or just let it go?
I know that in order to read the oil level from the dipstick, engine needs to be hot.
Is it OK to run the engine for 10-15 minutes with an extra oil?
Any help will be appreciated.
P.S. And “Yes” you can make fun of me. Just do not tell me to suck the extra oil out of the engine through the straw.

Go to www.f650.com - 'The Chain Gang' is a site devoted to the F650. You can measure the oil level after running the motor for less than a minute. The filter and the frame will fill with oil. You can remove the 'extra oil' with a turkey baster (or something that will suck up the oil from the filler cap).
