ClearWater HID Light Upgrade Discount

Post by Jpainter187 »

Sweatmark got meminterested in the ClearWater HID light kit and this is the response that I received from the president of ClearWater after sending him an email with a few questions and concerns... I'm going to see if I can talk my wife into letting me save up and get an HID kit, and was wondering if anyone else wanted to get in on this and take advantage of the discount? Read on for details...

Go here if you are unfamiliar with these lights: http://www.clearwaterlights.com/infopg_headlight.html

"Hi Jonathan,

We are working on a way to lower the cost a bit. The plan is to just offer the HID and lower the price $100.
The HID upgrade is really the way to go.

I have not personally done a Rockster conversion, but I am told it works fine. There are some variations over the years so I would like
to see for myself before I say it will work.

The problem with the 1150 headlights is the optics. And if you ever had a halogen bulb explode inside, the reflectors will be covered with molten
residue from the bulb failure. This is not good for light output. I personally own a 2004 GS1150. The original headlights were the worst I have ever
seen on a bike. Now mine has one of the best headlights I have ever seen.

The new optics we use are really very efficient and work well. They are used in 200mph race cars. The harnesses we make are very high quality and
use remote relays to switch power directly from the battery. No losses in the BMW switches and connectors.

If the two or more  of you would like to order together, I would be willing to discount the kits an additional $50 each. So, that means the HID kits would be
$650 a set with order of 2 or more. At this price, it is a bargain.

We recently completed some CNC machined tooling to help speed up the fabrication process. This should cut down lead times.
We are currently back ordered about 2 weeks. We sell many of these overseas.

Let me know what you think and how else I can be of assistance.

Best regards,

Glenn Stasky

Well, it's a lot of coin to fix a problem that many folks don't acknowledge... since most ride during daylight hours.

My Rockster's HID low/dip beam was previous/original owner installed, and I used the additional lumens during the post-purchase ride home during a long winter's night.

This season my limited riding has been mostly daytime, so I'd be hard pressed to justify the cash for Clearwater's upgrade.

As for Clearwater, I was impressed by Glenn and the company's product line during chat in his booth at our Oregon BMW rally. Instead of the headlight upgrade, I'm saving up for Clearwater's LED driving/conspicuity lights.
