S1000R Test Drive

Post by BMWPA »

Brought the R1150R in to Max's So Windsor CT today for harness recall work. Offered a test drive by Shane (much thanks), chose the S1000 R, more relaxed posture with the flat handlebars than the S1000 RR.....Whoa momma !!! Fast bike, smooth, technological tour da force which had me grinnin', and I really didn't open her up properly due to the local roads thickly settled, not wanting to give Max's a bad rep letting the test driving hooligans terrorize the locals, my own inexperience with the bike... <excuses excuses> Got back on my R, road 30 miles home, she's good enough for me. Ride safe.

Yeah for you!
I figured myself with all that power + the law of large numbers = trouble for me.

Enjoy, and ride safe.

Hate to hijack the thread, but can anyone point me toward info on the 1150R wiring harness recall that MBWPA referenced in his post? I have a 2004, and haven't heard of the recall.

Its a good thing I spent a lot of money on some home remodeling. This bike really appeals to me.

I had a deposit down on an S1000R until I came to my senses at the last minute and bought a Dark White R1200R. I don't really like or trust computers and that bike is all about computer control. Adjust suspension 100 times a second? I don't think I'd like that or need it. Do I really want or need 160 hp? Why? What for? The R12R is really quite perfect for me.

I bought a red one about two weeks ago, but with other priorities, have only had it out once for a couple of hundred miles here in the mountains.

Great motorcycle. Crazy fast and very nimble. Riding position better than the S1000RR, but significantly more sporty than the R1200R I also own.

Hope to get back on it mid-week so I can get the first service behind me and get the pro plug put in.

It will never be a sport-touring bike for me, but a day ride in the mountains will always provide days of grins afterwards.
