Open message for super secret location of Bash '08

Post by scottybooj »

Next year's Bash will be held in the wonderful area of Northern Pennsylvania. The area straddles the Pennsylvania Wilds and the Endless Mountains regions.

I am working on a few B and Bs. One of which can hold up to 40 people!!!

The weekend is the one before Memorial Day as always. May 16-18 2008.

The countryside is beautiful with the Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania nearby, as well as many State Parks to ride through.

I have already contacted a reputable MC Tour Company to arrange tours for those who would like to have their weekend 'guided'.

Sound off if you're in and what kind of room you desire and if you would be interested in a tour.

Note, the main B and B i'm looking at has many rooms (13), but very few singles. All of the beds in the place are either full, queen or king size! So, if we all don't mind sharing some rooms, we can have the run of the place, and man does this place sound perfect!!!

Hey Scott,

Good choice. \:D/
Count me in. Haven't talked to my son yet but I'm sure he is he would also be there. Would be looking for a room with 2 beds.

GREAT! If the 'interested folk', (funny, it's the guys closest to the location that are on the fence, go figure!) make it, it's around 11 so far. If Herb brings his son, make it 12.

There are some major university graduations in pennsylvania that cause the area to fill up. I'm hoping that we can find out who is serious and then i can nail down which B/B will suit our needs best.

The one that holds up to 35-40 wanted to rent the whole place to us for the average cost of $100 per room, per night. Mind you, most rooms sleep 2-4, so I would average out the cost based on the quantity of beds/size of the room.

There are many more B/Bs, but most have 3-5 rooms and the fact that this one had 13 made me think, WOW, this could be perfect for EVERYONE to come and stay at the same place. That way our friends who camped out in the boonies in a cabin at this year's bash could have a place next year. Right cam and machew!? why, gezundheit!

To all our kinsmen/women out west, south and across the pond(s), our bashes are way more fun than the rallies, so try to make it next year, ya hear?!?

Scotty,

The bash was always during the school year, that's one reason why I could not make it.

My son will be going away to school for his frosh year this Sept. So I may have a free weekend in May, finally!

So it's -1 on the son this time.

What is PA's lodging and use tax rate? 9%? $1300 plus tax per night; $2600 + 9% = $2834. Even divided by 35 riders is starting to get steep (we are BMW riders on the least expensive Boxer made, don't forget!!!). No Bash yet achieved 40 riders. BBI=32? BBII= 35? BBIII=25? BBIV=28?

Not to complain Scotty. Just to worry. Maybe ask again and say, "Who will commit to two nights in Pennsylvania's Endless Mountain region (top notch area) at a B&B that charges $80-100 per bed?"

Now, having complained enough. I think the idea is great, the location superb and the company promises to be top notch. So I am in.
I don't mind paying for mistakes. Can I get a discount?

The cheapest thing on a BMW is the rider! GT, good points. Scotty, good plan. Gang, let's eat!

BUT

After this we definitely owe the southern and mid-continent Beaksters a Bash near their region.

The rate was per room. From the looks of it, they're big. Some have 4 queen beds in each, all with private baths except for the 4 single rooms which share one, i believe.

I'm sure i'll bring along a rider or two, or maybe three.

I wasn't looking for a b/b that served up to 40, but when I saw this place online, i thought that it seemed sooooo perfect. I think they sleep easily 32-36 but can accomodate groups larger. (don't know where they put them)

when I get an accurate number, i'll try to negotiate.

there are TONS of B/Bs in this area...i'm not worried. Just everyone chime in and let me know who's going. I know the highest number hovers under $100 per person for both nights, preferably near 80 or so. I paid somewhere near that for w.virginia.

This area is actually quite accessible to our midwest friends. They can shoot up through ohio and right into PA.

Pluses are that roadkill is not on the menu.

Scott

I'm in. I need a single room, if possible.

Maybe we should try to get groups from different regions together to ride to PA.

As an example, I have a place in western NC. I'd be willing to use it as a meeting spot for southern riders to join up for the ride to PA. There's enough room to accomodate whoever wanted to stay overnight.

Maybe the mid-western riders could do the same.

We might even find a mid Atlantic host to provide a stop over/meeting place for the final lap to the Bash.

I'm doing a ride to Big Bend National Pk, hosted by another website, in Oct. I've already been invited to spend the night with one of the guys along the way, and ride in to B/B with him and his buddies.

The same thing could work here. It'll not only cut cost, but make the trip more enjoyable, IMO.

Thanks for taking this on, Scott.
