L'Beakster Bash May 2008-You Missed it Punk!
Where: Benton, PA Endless Mountains area meets The Wilds
When: May 16, 17, 18 2008
http://www.beaksterbash.info
Tour fantastic roads with little police coverage and see the Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania! The date is the weekend before Memorial Day.
Central Park Hotel
Accomodations:
]
No Vacancy in the Central Park Hotel as of 1/29/08. However, we are arranging rooms at a nearby location, hopefully walking distance. Leave your name in a post if you want in on what will be the best Bash ever!
So, post away and i'll put deposits on my Amex. As for the rooms that require cash, i'll have to figure that out.
There's a place nearby for campers. Let me know who is camping and i'll get that settled too.
The proprietor (Rose ) will do breakfast each day for about $7.00 per person if we get the majority to eat in. The camping people are also welcome. It is a buffet style with juice, coffee, sausage gravy, eggs, fresh sausage links, bacon, with french toast one day and pancakes the other.
Also, i'd like to arrange 'beverages' for one of the nights. To all of those who drink beer, chime in with that as well so we're not doing beer runs to the Quik-e-mart with one saddlebag on!!! (um, that was me)

Scott,
If you don't use numbers, half of us will mark the wrong weekend before Memorial Day! Is that to say the Friday, Saturday and Sunday immediately before Memorial Day in the same weekend? Or is it the entire full weekend before Memorial Day. Does that make it the third week in May? The week after Mother's Day?
When is it again?
My guess is May 16-18 (third weekend of May, weekend after Mother's Day, full weekend before Memorial Day weekend.) But I could be wrong.
One more thing: Will they be serving coffee? Or regular coffee?
Oh, and by the way. Count me in for a full priced single room w/ private bath in Annex 2. And a daily breakfast. No beer.
Where/when do I send cash?

Scotty,
I'm in. I have a couple of young debutantes that want go, but I told cyclerob that he would have the right of first refusal for sharing a room. I'll catch up with him tonight and let you know.
I plan to arrive on Thursday, ride Fri/Sat, and depart on Sunday.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with the "Endless Mountain Region" of the Keystone Stone, you will have a blast.

Scotty,
I just got off the phone with cyclerob and we shall opt for Annex 1 with two double beds and a private bath. No need for the pullout bed since there will only be the two of us. We are on for breakfast both days. We shall require lodging on Thursday, Friday, & Saturday night(May 15, 16, & 17).
Let me know the cost.
Jim

Annex 1 and Annex 2 are filled!
I need to know if Beemeridian and Towerworker are sharing the room in Annex 1.
So, the hotel is open. Yes, a shared bath, but so what...bring yer flip flops!
As for Annex 2, I have to call Rose seeing as that annex is cash only. Jim told me it's not owned by the hotel, it must be run by them, so they take cash only. If that's the case, I'll mail her a check and have you guys paypal me or send me money.
alright guys...remember, this state has a thing about not taking reservations till Jan 2nd for the year. so money won't be due till i can make those reservations on jan 2. at which point i'll send everyone a message as to how much and how to pay me. I told the lady i was going to put it on my amex and she said that i was very trusting. I told her she doesn't know our group.
and thanks for the thanks...but most of the thanks should go to Jim (STDocLizard). He offered at the last bash to assist me and I took him up on it. I told him where I wanted to have the bash and that I was having trouble finding suitable lodging that wasn't 150/night. He told me about this place and that he's stayed there before. So, if the place is great thank him, and if it sucks, blame him too!
Everyone is in for a treat. This region of PA is beautiful with great riding to be had.
Now I only hope my brother in law decides on another month to get married. (prick better not pick my weekend!!!)

Scotty,
Indulge me one more time, please.
Where is this place? Wellsboro or Benton? You are aware those two towns are 90 miles apart? And I cannot find any Central Park Hotel on the internet, except the one in Manhattan.
Maybe a street address? GPS Coords? UTM?
Oh, and saying "I am sure they will have coffee." is a bust. Famous last words and all that. Coffee or regular coffee is the question!
And lastly, one final thing, will it rain?

Mike, I know it's a bit farther than I wanted but the places in/around Wellsboro are more geared to the antiquer with higher priced B&Bs that would almost double the rates we're getting in Benton.
Plus, the majority of places had single bedrooms and only 5 rooms or so to a place. they are basically converted homes. I was having a rough time getting it put together in/around Wellsboro. There was one place but the owner was blackballed by all of the neighboring Chambers of Commerce, for what I don't know, and nobody would recommend his place.
The Grand Canyon, if people left nice and early, would be a great day trip to and back. It's twisty, but not like W.Virginia twisty! Damn, that place took me 20 minutes to go a mile!
