I am definitely most likely probably going to be able to potentially go.

Rich will buy more gear from Cam. Then he doesn't have to pack. :P

POST BASH BUMP.

This is a first rate campground, with excellent roads, cell coverage(for some), and easy access to I-81 and I-77. We will have the whole loop, and can fit a couple of tents on each platform.

If you don't want to camp, there are a couple of hotels in town.

5th Annual Event. Rain is a tradition. So are good rides.

The best of the best are there - you could become one!

VA/WV 16 is a near legendary route between Marion and Tazewell. Machew's lead ride in 2005 on US58 West has achieved 'campfire memory' status.

The only downside is the absence of restaurant choices. Appletree is the only good selection. The Park Restaurant does not like us and that Italian place does not actually serve food to strangers.

This year's highlight will be a re-enactment of the Valve Stem Vann rescue by DSKYZD.

Platforms. Yes, platforms. The campground has designated platforms (wooden decks) for tents. There are a couple sites that still have old fashioned 'dirt' to put your tent on, but be prepared to pitch your tent on a deck. It's tough driving those tent stakes into wood.

If I can count within 1 or 2 accurately, then we have 8 pre-paid sites at $54.00 and two bogart sites that will be grabbed as able. Newcomers, late arrivals, others will be paying a share to the current site 'owners'?

Jeff, time for some update stuff!

Hungry Mother State Park. Marion, Virginia. August 15-17, 2008 http://www.dcr.virginia.gov/state_parks/hun.shtml

I have reserved 9 of the 11 Campsites in Loop C for Friday, and Saturday Night. The other 2 sites will be ours, but the Park saves them for walk ins.

9 of us have paid $54 to reserve the sites. Newcomers, late arrivals, etc. will need to pay a share to the current site "owner".

There are some tremendous roads in the area, and it is close to both I-81, and I-77. If you don't want to camp, there are several hotels nearby. http://maps.google.com/maps?client=safa ... sults&cd=1

We will not eat at the Italian place, or the Lodge.
Thanks Jeff.

Mike,

Which one of your newly acquired rides will you be on? I have a black leather jacket and trooper helmet if you want to borrow them when you ride your RTP.

Too many bikes, too little time, only one MikeCam.

I heard from someone who ate here this week that this is a decent Mexican restaurant. Thinking back to our good experience that time down the road in Chilhowie this might be a possible dinner stop. I put their number in my phone so we could call ahead to warn them of our group's arrival.

Little Caesars pizzas are still good one night as well.
