OU812 - nothing bonds guys together than spending a day riding in the rain!

Which may explain the attraction of our annual Hungry Mother Rain Ride! You should come! :D

Last year Biff and i enjoyed our rainy day ride at the Bash checking out the local attractions, even if the best one was the waitress at lunch! And DSKYZD and I shared about half of my 690 mile return trip from that Bash in the rain!

Ah - good times!

Tomorrow night I am attempting a rendezvous with a dark lady at Babcock State Park. Google it!

Those interested in watching can stop by!

Guys --

Bad news on my end. A family issue cropped up that will keep me in Philadelphia on Friday, so I have to bail on the Bash. I could really use some 2 wheel therapy at this point but it looks like that won't happen this weekend. I'l have to shoot for the Hungry Mother now.

The only upside is that this frees up a bed in a room that's already booked. Phil - I sent you a PM on this.

Noticed a little seepage around the FD last night; I'm thinking it's the 'usual amount' but will keep an eye on it.
New tire on front & back, Dyna-beads in.
Should be finished packing in a few hours & ready for some riding.

Riding in iffy weather isn't MLW's favorite, but she always like's the 'street-cred' strangers give her.

I think that I am going to go to work, and then leave around 2-3 PM. It is pouring here, and if I leave now I will ride in it all day. I should be there around 6-7 PM.

I asked Challey to go ahead and cancel that room reservation. It looks like I'm out as well. So someone else can grab that room if you need it.

Too many unfavorable elements aligned perfectly by last night, making it a hard but clear choice to stay home this go 'round. Not any one problem could have kept me from going, but when you toss in 3 or 4, that does it, and its largely an intuitive decision, which has kept me out of a lot of trouble up to this point. If things should change in the next couple of hours, I'll head out and take my chances on a room, but for now...its a no-go.

I hope the clouds clear out and you guys have a great dry weekend!

MLW & made it to our halfway point, Breezewood PA.
According to the Garmin Girl there's another 266 miles to go tomorrow.

Since our departure @ 7:15 this morning, we've made it through on-off rain and HEAVY wind all day. Had a couple hours of continuous rain w/ construction, Jersey Curb and mud-fouled turn-outs 8-[ 8-[ 8-[ on Rt 15 north of Williamsport.

Is there an informal dinner meeting scheduled?

Well, I officially have to retract my "whimp" statement about Steve and Steve. I rode from my place to OH, to meet Jeff... 345 miles... and it was ALL rain except for maybe 20 or 30 miles of it. Brutal... So the Steves are officially "smart"... not "whimps"...

The short story is, after getting there and just feeling beat, having dinner with Jeff (it was great to meet him), I got up the next morning... and seeing the forecast for the next few days... I didn't like the odds, and I bailed too ... put my rain suit back on this morning and came back home... Jeff was in the process of getting an early start to try to beat the next front to Fayetteville. I just waited out the worst part of it and then took off after that...

Good luck to everyone that actually makes it there... hopefully you'll get some good weather...

I ended up waiting until about noon, and the rain stopped on Thursday. I had some wet roads, but encountered no rain on the way down.

I lucked out, and only had about 20 miles of rain riding the whole weekend.

It was great to get to meet Ves, and looking at the radar and forecast on Thursday it looked like a true soaker.

Had a great time. Except maybe that period where we were riding on a gravel road. But, I'll get a lifetime of enjoyment making life a living hell for the one responsible! I left Nashville after the storm came through Thursday and never had to put on my rain gear. Had a temporary setback in Lexington when the valve stem on my rear tire went bad. I've already ordered spare valve stems and the associated tool. Now to continue with my punishment:

I'll always replace the valve stem when I change a tire.

Made it home safe & sound late yesterday afternoon.
No mishaps, just great riding weather, the further north the better the weather.
Only down-side was The Jerks of Somerset.

Looking forward to next time.

Don't get your hopes up on the good shower at Hungry Mother. It's likely that they'll be taken.
