Could the Oregonians among us give MOA-ians attending the BMW-MOA National Rally in Redmond next summer some tips about good roads and good eats and other things you think could enhance our riding pleasure in your great state?
Thanks in advance!

Re: Calling on Orgonians...
It's "Oregonians". Use "GO" for the 3rd syllable here, but not for the state name, which is better pronounced OH-REE-GUN rather than the common East Coast OH-RAY-GONE sacrilege.
For riding in the area, depends on where you're riding from, how much time you have (aside from rally participation), and what you want to see (ocean, mountains, desert, valleys, or good pavement).
We have good riding in Oregon, and Washington, and especially California:
My favorite is described/linked here: http://r1150r.org/board/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=16017

I Like It! Thanks for the link to your ride report and the correct term, which I will now fix!
Questions:
Can you turn right on red lights after stopping?
Does your state have a helmet law? (not that it matters much since I wear ATGATT, but we don't have one here in Florida.)

Re: Calling on Oregonians...
Free right turns after stopping, unless posted otherwise. In California, free right turn is granted with mere suggestion of stopping. Within the Western states, that's called a "California stop."Can you turn right on red lights after stopping?
Does your state have a helmet law?
Helmet laws in WA, OR, CA, and you might as well wear it elsewhere.
As of Jan 1st, Oregon has mandatory hands-free cell phone law. Texting while driving will cost you $142.

And I suppose we can't lane split down there either, eh?sweatmark wrote:Free right turns after stopping, unless posted otherwise. I don't get caught in the rain, I ride in it on purpose.
