Thanks, Kristi.

Gang, Confirmed at the desk that rooms are blocked until March 31. Some are in while others have waited - don't wait too long.
McDonalds is open, Ruby Tuesday is across the street, there is a Buddy's BBQ in Kingston. There are roads everywhere.

Kristi, I like the added welcome sign in the Motel pic above. The snow should all be gone by May 13th!

Just had a nice long 15+ minute talk with Jim prior to his post above.
FYI, STDocLizard1 is a customer of my NJ shop. We became friends thru common interests (bikes, riding & food). My best guess is 1994---2005 time period where we rode many mini group rides and even OilHead group rides together. You may remember Jim as the silver hair short ponytailed group leader of a few of those rides. Even though he now rides a dark blue Honda ST-1300, he won't hold you back . . . . . much. :smt015

Looking forward to another Bash and a drag race with an OilHead. :-"

FYI,

That's the weekend of the DL650/1000 V-Strom Rally, the KLR650 "Tour de Tellico", and the Asheville Bikefest. The traffic on the Dragon Saturday will be heavy.

Bah! Who needs that old dragon anyway! Not that I'm going, but the riders in this group are skilled riders and experts in navigation - - all those other bike rallies and gatherings will pale in comparison to the kind of riding that will be done when the 'beaksters' plan a Bash!

Been there/done that. I've been checking on some routes that are within the confines of the Volunteer State so as to avoid the congestion and weekend warriors on US 129 and vicinity. Thanks for the heads-up though.

DOH!!!! #-o :smt022 :smt022 I can't make it... I forgot, that weekend I'll be downtown Chicago. My wife won some big award at work and they're putting us up at a fancy hotel down there... ceremonies.. etc.. All the weekends in the year and it has to be the same one... Unbelievable...

Excellent! They can all go do the 'dragon' while the rest of us do all the other great roads in the area with less traffic! :P

If the weather is decent I may ride up that direction this week and scout out some roads for us. I'm going down to Cedar Key Florida on Friday, but the rest of the week is open for me to explore. The Dragon is the ONE place we do NOT want to go during the Bash. Sure its curvy, but its highly overrated.

The Dragon has become a huge tourist attraction; and, because of that it usually is a 5 mph parade during the "Season". It does serve a purpose though. Keeps a lot of traffic off the rest of the fantastic roads in E TN, W NC, and N GA! My favorite ride is South on HWY 68 / 60 from Tellico Plains to Dalonega, GA. Lots of curves, up & down 5 small mountains, and good pavement most of the way.

I am planning to go. I now have a bike which is short on comfort for a 500 mile trek to the Bash, but I will manage somehow. I missed out last year and want to see my old riding buddies again.

The Dragon is fun when you can go faster then the Harley's and cages.
I would prefer to try the other roads in the area.
