Annual Hungry Mother Weekend (Virginia)

Post by wncbmw »

August 20-22, 2010

So it fell to me to get things rolling this year for the ??th annual Hungry Mother ride. How long we been doing this? 5 or 6 years? For those of you who don't know, Hungry Mother is a Virginia State park near Marion, VA and is centered in the midst of some great motorcycle roads! We have been doing this the 3rd weekend in August and have reserved almost all of Loop C in the campground. It is a really nice campground and Loop C affords some privacy for the group.

Sites are $20 per site, per night. 2 tents can easily share a site. If you wish to put your name on one, let me know and I can PM you my paypal address or mailing address if you prefer. Any assistance to paying off the credit card charge for the reservation would be appreciated!

Go to the Great Rides section and check out last years slide shows and pictures for a taste of what it is about.

And here is a link to the campground website. http://www.dcr.virginia.gov/state_parks/hun.shtml

Looking forward to seeing the old friends and making some new ones!

Can I bring Marvin if he promises not to run over any more of your NC bears?

Sure Marvin is welcome! And problem bears are getting out of hand. He can harvest all he wants! :p

I always look forward to this ride. So many good roads so little time to ride them all.

Yeah baby! This year I will actually have a bike! Chibbert, you should have driven the truck last year. We could have played checkers at the campsite all day! 8)

I would have but change in employment prevented such endeavors
I'll still be up for a game of checkers if you want . . . but no tic tac toe - I suck at that

Everyone, please pay Vann promptly for your Hungry Mother campsite. He needs the money to buy parts for his wife's lawn mower.

This truly depends on your proximity to the kick. I can sit at a picnic table and watch someone get kicked twice and learn so much more from seeing it happen the second time. :doubt: =D> #-o   :doubt: =D> ;) :!:  [-X [-o<

Hi all --

In stark contrast to last year when I had no working 2-wheel transportation, this year I should have at least have one servicable motorcycle as I've recently purchased an '04 DL650. I'm hoping that my V-twin will be welcomed at HMSP this August by her flat-twin cousins and if I may be so bold, believe that she looks forward to it. Right now, she needs some apparel (I'm planning on surprising her with soft luggage) but should certainly be properly accessorized by August.

Question 1): Is there anyone attending who'd be interested in sharing a site?
Question 2): Is there anyone heading to HMSP from the NYC/Phila/Baltimore/WDC area who'd like to get together for the ride down (I'm just outside of Philly)?

Charlie - about half the sites remain unspoken for! They are reserved but only 5 people have sent money to claim one.

Oh and you can ride whatever is rolling at the time! We don't care. :D Just come ride!

I would suggest getting one from Vann and then sharing it with others. He has a chunk on the cc bill.
