I am trying to remember whether I had the red R or the silver R for HM1. I do remember having 2-3 inches of water inside my tent, Vann's dyed hands and the BBQ joint.

Jeff - Looking at the pictures, I see no silver R!

And there is the shot of the road at the curve on 16 taken during the only 10 minutes during the day it was not raining. I have that one too!

I remember looking at the pictures. It seems like several of you took photos, but they were all the same.

Today I received the 7th payment for Hungry Mother camp sites. Four sites are still open so if you plan on attending the annual HM Rain Ride in August, please shoot me a check to reserve your spot.

Remember, dancing girls and pizza for everyone!...or is that pizza and dancing girls for everyone? I'll get back to you.

Got it! Thanks Jeff.

Three more to go! We need a crowd at the campsite this year. The more the merrier!

I'm interested, but I'm relatively new at this and have tended to fall behind on other group rides.
Is there a group heading up from ATL and / or a preferred route?
Thanks,
Paul

snave, we'll be leaving from the Wafflehouse in Jasper...the one by the RaceTrac gas station on the west side of 575. There are 4 to 6 of us that are going from Atlanta area.

PM me for more details.

Hey snave - It should be easy to keep up with any group Boxer is in. They have to stop often to eat!

Edited to add -we were both, after all, in a group labeled by a gone-but-not-forgotten board member as Hobbits!

Hobbit riders ride to eat and eat to ride!

Hungry Mother Rain Ride #1
Good memories. That was the first time I met a bunch of other r1150r members but had previously ridden with camiletti. Camiletti and I decided to ride home via the BRP and my boneheaded decision to go into NC to get on it made a very long ride home. It was a good day with Mike.

I typically plan on this ride and will get a check sent soon.

Current stats of Hungry Mother attendance list.

https://sites.google.com/site/hungrymother2012/

Just go to the site and click on "View" the excel file listed there to see thew list of attendees, etc.

I still need one more person to send me a check then we can start doubling up on the sites.

Okay, August 10th will be here before we know it! So get the plans made and come join us at Hungry Mother State Park in western Virginia. I have a whole slew of folks coming up with me from Georgia and Florida but there's room for a lot more. All sites have been paid for, but if you aren't one of those who paid, just arrive at the appointed time and set up your tent somewhere. You can work out the payment of camping fees with your neighbors.

I have plans to show a major Hollywood blockbuster movie never before screened by our group, so you don't want to miss this action. Plus riding around on your bike in this area is an experience of a lifetime.

Any updates? How close is this area to Boone NC as I believe this is the same weekend for the Carolinas BMW club rally. I may be interested in lieu of the rally. THanks

It's north of Boone, not too far. Coming from Raleigh-Durham area you'd go I-40 and split off onto 421 past Winston-Salem then hang a right onto 16. 16 goes right to the park through the little town of Marion, VA. Of course there are numerous ways to get there other than that route, but Boone is very busy and congested so I would avoid it.

You're more than welcome to join us at Hungry Mother.

Will definitely consider. Thanks.

I'd probably head up to Martinsville and over thru Stuart as I love travelling on Hwy58 and staying off of I-40. Done enough of that lately on my way down and back to the Georgia BMW Rally.

This Raleigh person will be taking NC96 to U.S. 58 at South Boston and then west to Marion and Hungry Mother. It's not a bad ride if the weather isn't too bad.

I jumped in early to reserve a site but other obligations have intervened, so my site is available if anyone is interested. We can do the paypal thing or make other arrangements.

Just to emphasize for people thinking about this weekend, you really don't need a site to attend. The platforms can accommodate 2 or even 3 tents each, so folks can double up and make whatever financial arrangements are needed to share costs. And super roads to ride all around the area.

Having a site reserved just means you get to set up your tent first! ;)

PM me if interested, if no one is, well I guess it's my donation and punishment for not making it.

PM sent...I'll take your spot Vann. I'll figure out some way to get you the money; I'm boycotting Paypal.

I'm planning to be there sometime Friday and I think Paul (co-worker, was there last year) will be with me. I'm not sure if his friend Bob (K1200LT) is planning to come, but another co-worker may come too. Anyone up for doubling up/sharing their site?

John, thanks for stepping up to Vann's site. Your other riding buddy will have plenty of folks to share a site with. I have a couple of guys coming from GA who have paid and will probably like to have someone share their site. But at any rate, there is room there for up to about 30 riders/tents. And we don't have near that many committed yet. So bring'em on!

I'm hoping to leave a little earlier than our Georgia group, and Marvin can lead them up. I will try to get there early Friday to secure the passes, etc. but if someone arrives before me, you have my permission to pretend to be me and grab the passes as you go in.
