That is an awesome road, but I think VA16 may be a little twistier. But only a little bit.

Btw, Carlos there will be space for you.

Yes Carlos! There will be plenty of room. Come on down!

I have one campsite reserved for Thursday night and will get there on Thursday sometime, if anyone wants to arrive early there will be room on my camp deck for another tent or two. I'll see everyone else on Friday. Marvin is leading the Georgia group down on Friday.

This is way cool!
Looks like nearly all my favorite guys are going to be there.

The only thing that would make it better would be an appearance from one particular miscreant. On my first introduction to the guy I told him he was full of poo.
We became fast friends ever since. I wish he was still around.

I updated the first post with the latest paid reservation. 3 sites left, and from the looks of it we may have a good crowd. I'm working on a special guest or two of my own.

OK guys, I'm still coming up from Waynesville. Most likely get there Friday afternoon. bringing my tent and hammock (I can always find 2 trees if no campsites available!).

hbrandon, trees will not be a problem. But if you're really particular about your trees, you might go nuts. There are 100's of choices!

Carlos, you'll have no problem recognizing me. I might be a little leaner, but I am a lot meaner. Right now, I'm planning to leave Raleigh about 12:30pm Friday for South Boston and points west.

Mike, I can't leave work early enough to meet you in South Boston. I think that this time I will cut through Lynchburg: it will save me about an hour. I will gladly ride with you on our way back East.

I am taking Friday off and will be meandering my way there. I can do it in about 3 hours but intend to take at least twice that! Mid to late afternoon arrival planned.

I'm planning on changing the antifreeze that morning. Soon as it's done we'll be on the road.

*Oops! I spoke too soon. Steering head bearings are toast. Going to Cyclerob's this morning for a tech session. Should have the new bearings in and reassembled well in advance of my Thursday morning departure time. See y'all Friday.

Looks like it will be just Bob Weber and myself. Joe the plumber must have some pipe to lay that morning and says he can't make it. We're hitting the road around 6am and stop for breakfast at the Pink Cadillac just south of Lexington. I would think we'd be there around noon or so.

btw--my cell number is 540-448-5767, just in case anyone wants or needs it. My old cell # died when I almost did.

Just a friendly reminder for all the attendees. Technically, there are no . . . ahem, adult beverages allowed in the state park. The rangers over the years have been good to us since we are quiet and discreet. So bring your beer cozies and clean up the empties and leave the bottles out of sight while we are camping. We want to be welcomed back next year!

Also, stop by the Visitor Center directly across from the park entrance and pick up a parking pass. Otherwise they may try to charge you a few bucks for parking when you go in. I'll try to arrive early enough to check-in and let the staff on duty know we are arriving at different times.

Yeah I remember that year one of the rangers looked at me while I was holding an "adult beverage" and he told me "I can't see that beer you're holding", I'm a bit dense and I said "Huh?" He repeated "I can't SEE that beer in your hand", That's when the light bulb lit up in my head. I smiled and tucked it inside my sweatshirt and he smiled and said "Now I can't see it!" and then he left.

I'm a little slow. Must be all that antifreeze.

So the bike is mostly packed and check the tires. Nearly new rear with a plug already from a nail is completely flat. Pull it off and find a second nail. So I'll probably be delayed tomorrow getting a new tire put on. Don't think I want to run a tire with two plugs. Crap.
