Thinking of a side trip to the Village of Watkins Glen and Cooperstown during the stay.

Watkins Glen is a good destination / day ride from Marathon. Worth taking the extra time to go to Hammondsport & the Glen Curtiss Museum. Great destinations for figure 8's around Seneca / Cayuga / Keuka / Canandaigua Lakes.

Google says it is 938 miles for me...on the slab. I really need another R-bike for that kind of riding, and it will take me a week long trip getting there and back doing normal riding...with a pillion. Juvy says she's in, if I decide to do it. It is a very enticing locale and venue. Plus the proprietor looks very nice. I've been wanting to make a trip to that area for many years.

We will see. Thanks Daryl and Co. For setting this up. I'll keep you posted.

I am intending to make it, along with Bob and possibly John. I'm not sure our friend on the V-Strom (Frank) will as he has a new baby daughter at home but I'll ask him. We will probably come mid-week so as to explore a bit.

Here's your chance to savor a little of the Empire State.

Juvy is a "trooper" to go the distance.

Phil,
If it is somewhat on the way you all can stay here to break up the trip.

So the room is booked! I will probably leave here Wednesday afternoon and go partway so I can get off the interstate Thursday and find a back road route to get there by that evening. Sunday will likely mean a zero dark thirty departure and a haul a$$ day home.

Doc, I would like to reserve a spot in your group for a day ride or two! Since you have a knack for finding good rides and places to eat that I did not know about in territory I am familiar with, I figure in your own backyard, you might know a thing or two!

See everyone there!

Sounds good Vann. Looking forward to getting together with everyone in attendance, but if we pull into a local Honky-tonk and someone asks you to dance..............don't say no!

Daryl,

Excellent preparation! However, I won't be able to make it. I'll be somewhere in the desert southwest trying to figure out that "retirement thing". Have a great time!

Machew01 - very sorry you'll be burdened with that retirement problem. Just glad it wasn't a more serious issue like not having a bike that would make it this far North    . In all seriousness though, we will all be very disappointed not to see you this year, I was sure that the sweet and charming proprietor of the Three Bears Inn would be just the right bait for you 8) 8) :D . Happy riding in the SW

I'm thinking about this bash trip. The mileage for me (minimal interstate) is very do-able for one day and I would love to explore more of New York. This would be a great opportunity! I'll see if my son would be interested, but I'm not sure what his riding distance threshold is on his current ride (Ducati Monster). I have a few things up in the air in May, but will let you guys know soon!

Bob and I will be arriving Wednesday afternoon/evening and staying thru Sunday. I think his plan is to head to Canada to visit family from there. Sunday morning I'll head back south to home, maybe ride along with any going that way.

Any idea of the number of attendees? My plan is still for arrival Thursday evening, breaking it up into a two day ride so I don't have to drone on the slab for the whole way. Thinking of taking an extra day coming back too, so maybe detour into some country I haven't ridden on the way home.

So far, most of the attendees seem to be the regular group. (Not that there is anything wrong with that!). Would be nice to meet some new folks though.

Looking forward to exploring the Finger Lake region!

Vann,
I'm planning to leave Wednesday morning......it's just at 400 miles for me. Were you coming straight up I81? Our plan was to slab it in one day and arrive Wed eve. Wondering about you riding along with us (Bob and I).

For that matter are there any others from down south who might be coming up the same way?
