3rd Annual Hungry Mother State Park, Virginia Meet Aug 18-20

Post by MikeCam »

Announcing the 2006 Hungry Mother State Park Roadster Rain Ride
Friday, August 18 through Sunday, August 20 2006

Ride Southwest Virginia Mountains and camp in the luxurious Loop C.
10 reserved sites in Campground C for 2 nights. Max 6 persons per site. Realistically fit 2 tents max.

Park features a restaurant, swim beach, showers/latrines, firewood...

Mark your calendars now and no excuses...

Pre-pay Mike Cam via Paypal (send PM or e-mail first) $40.00 per site (two nights minimum). Excess funds buy a firewood supply for all. No other registration needed.

Campground C is a wooded, hillside site with a small loop asphalt road. It is located deep in the park past the lodge, office, restaurant, swim beach, and RV sites. Private. There are 11 sites but we have reserved only 10. Whomever else is there is likely to be friendly, NASCAR loving, and quiet.

Image

Sites 1-3; 5-6; 8-10 are 16'x16' wooden platforms. Sites 4, 7, and 11 are gravel pads. Site 4 comfortably fits 3 tents. Others probably fit 2 tents. Plan accordingly for wind and rain security. You may need to guy out your tent instead of staking it.

Latrine/shower(s) are between sites 3 and 4. We might get full use of both men's and women's sides depending on who else is camping that weekend.

__________________________________________________________

Southwest VA Roads --- VA 16 anchors the North South rides. US 58 anchors the southern east-west rides. VA 42 and US 52 anchor the northern east-west rides.

VA 600 is a treat.

More details as time develops.

Scott,
You need the supernanny. I am going to try to get down to Hungry mother, and my goal is to take WV/VA 16 for as much of trip as possible.

Surely you're not pimping out your nieces in February just to entice us to ride and camp with you in August are you?

I know you're not, but couldn't resist.

Hey Mike, let me say thanks for doing this, it's a very cool thing. I'll be there for sure. I know, I know just send the money right?

Mike - did you serously post that last message at 2:29 AM? Of course you did! I forgot who it was!

I hope to make this, but with the start of school, I seriously can't make any plans until later. If the campground is full, I will just motel it!

Vann,
I think we own the campground for that weekend so if it gets that crowded, I'm sure you could share a site.

Okay, am I supposed to send $40 for two nights camping on one site? Or is it $40 total from two people sharing one site for 2 nights? Or is it $20 from each person per night...Or maybe $40 from one person for two nights on one site and that person has to sub-let the other half to a second person for $20 for the two nights, in which case what happens if the person sharing the site slips away for the second night leaving the first person with the other $10 to take up the total $40 for two nights? Then it would be $30, unless still an extra person showed up that second night. Could happen!

And do we get a bonus if we bring a hungry mother with us?

Phil, send me $100, take two aspirin, knock on wood, throw some salt over your shoulder and you'll be covered.

Seriously here's the deal. Mike has already paid for all of the sites in area C except for 1, and that was probably a NASCAR fan who didn't know the race was actually the following weekend. $40 buys 1 site for 2 nights. If 9 of us send him $40 each he'll be covered. If more than 9 others show, those that share their sites can collect $20. If less than 9 others show Mike said he'd eat the difference. I hope that doesn't have to happen.

Maybe we can get more participants by having guaranteed site space for anyone who decides to come at the last minute, or can't plan that far ahead.
We're essentially going to have the whole place to ourselves.

Mike's going to bring his Revival Tent and Mark's going to preach us a sermon on Sunday morning.

All hungry mothers have to be registered with the park office.

Brian, if Mark is preaching on Sunday morning, perhaps Cam should leave the revival tent at home and bring the Temple Tent.
