Bash East IV - 2007 - 3rd Weekend May

Post by MikeCam »

Cup-o-Hemlock was chosen by fiat to be the responsible Beakster Planner for 2007 Bash East.

Nominated places: (no Order of preference(yet))

Return to Lafayette Hotel, Marietta, Ohio
NORTH - Finger Lakes Region, NY
NORTH - somewhere else in NY State but I don't know where
South - North Alabama - Huntsville region
South - North Georgia - somewhere really good but I forget the name
Mid-Atlantic/Mountains - somewhere in WV

Nothing is decided except the 3rd weekend in May...

I could not agree more about the timing Mike.

I am also going to say that we did not even come close to getting to all of the possible roads in the Marietta/Parkersburg area. We never did a ride in WV. BTW, Ohio 26 will also have fresh pavement within the next couple of months.

I do not care where we go next year. I will be there, but I also want to show you guys a few more SE Ohio gems. :smt026

Maybe the 3rd time is the charm. I wanted to go last year but work got in the way. I was all set to go this year and my bike got trashed by a one eyed truck driver  . I have already blocked the time out on my schedule for next year. I am going to show up next year even if it's on a Vespa. :D

Just Checking

Post by MikeCam »

FWIW Department

A 500 mile radius from the VA-TN-NC border (more or less Bristol, TN/VA) includes New York City, Toronto, Buffalo, Detroit, Chicago, St Louis, Memphis, Meridian, Mobile, Tallahassee, Gainsville, and the entire East Coast from Daytona to Jersey. Just outside that line are Syracuse, New Orleans, Orlando, and Hartford/Boston.

Shift the line NEWS and offer some ideas for a location.

Personally, I favor North Alabama or Finger Lakes Region, NY.

I wonder if my first (and last) planning decision could be to thrust the planning badge upon another unsuspecting member?

This is what I get for asking questions :)

I am looking forward to the next Bash already! I am, of course, willing to help plan too.

Alas, I still have the school year to deal with in May as final exam preps are needed. I read the Bash pics with envy.
My freedom is coming.....a few more years....hang in there for me guys you are doing great.

For those interested in the Finger Lakes, I attended this rally 2 years ago.
Hurricane Francis chased me north Labor Day weekend from NC to NY and it turned into one great weekend.

Well run affair. Breakfast available every day and some great roads and scenery. Watkins Glen campground is nice too. The rally publishes a 75 mile 'waterfall tour' that is fantastic.

If I can get a Labor Day weekend off, I am going. But I will get jinxed by a hockey tournament.....

Here is the reason I could not go this year:

I asked him if it's OK if I go next year. He said:

I checked later, when he was taking a bath, in a better mood, and he still said:

So I will try to go next year, but so far this boss is not too happy about it.

Don't Tell

Post by MikeCam »

Don't tell my married daughter since she is too young still, but I miss little babies. They are so wonderful.

Great pics, thanks.

Phil, you might want to think twice about the pink floppy hat.

Okay, great pics of innocents. But we have only one year left before the Bash IV and nothing is planned!!!!!!!

C-o-H is a reluctant selectee for the top spot. Understandably, he didn't wish it; we foisted it upon him.

So here's the deal. I'll plan the 2007 Bash subject to the following conditions:

1. I am the ultimate decision maker. I will take inputs, then when I tire of the various conflicting ideas, I'll decide. That will be that.

2. I will arrange for both lodging and camping to be available near the chosen site. I will arrange for at least one sit-down, reserved table dinner and award/gift exchange/recognition thing.

3. I will not arrange entertainment, routes, or group rides. Google Earth and Yahoo Maps exist for your individual pleasure.

4. Someone else will have to step up to do T-shirts or other commemoratives.

5. Nobody complains.

Note: I was the trustee of a Real Estate Trust and HomeOwners Association for 8 years. Democracy sucks.

OR

Someone else can offer to run things. I have a Hungry Mother to feed!

Number 5 is the hardest to swallow... It would take most of the fun away, wouldn't it? Well at least I can come to Hungry Mother SP to complain, right?

Mike - you can't fool me. You set all those conditions just so no one would ask you to do it!

Oh No

Post by MikeCam »

I'd love to be in charge. I just have lost any interest in New Age, Horizontally Integrated, Wireless, Feel Good, Everybody is a Winner, Can't Lose, Idea Sharing, Win-Win Solutions to planning a biker rally.

For Instance: If I were asked to make a decision today it would be:

Bash IV 18-20 May Huntsville, AL Monte Santo State Park

Hotel/Motel/Camping Info to Follow. See link... http://

Done.

Wow - only 11 months away, and two pages already.

Alabama is too far west to be called an east bash, so that's out. Unless you want to re-name it the south-central bash - that could work.

What about Florida - nobody EVER mentioned poor Florida. We could go gator tipping late at night for an activity.

What about South Carolina? Don't leave them out!

And Kentucky......

What about South Carolina?
Yes, let's leave them out! I would rather ride to New York than SC on a bike. Regardless of how popular bike week at Myrtle Beach is! :P
