Alternate Beakster Bash Location - Southern States
wncbmw and I have been talking about having another southern location for the Beakster Bash, the location would be centralized and accessible to our friends in FL, GA, TN, AL, MS, LA, AR, and TX.
Please note, that this event if formalized, will be in addition to and on a date not to conflict with the BBIV, scheduled in Marlington on May 2007.
The format would be somewhat similar to the prior ones, running Friday, Sat and Sunday at a location, close to some riding and other motorcycling activities. A dinner on Saturday evening and other activities for the attendees. Lke in the past it would be a very loose and lighly structured event with no entry fees, the organizers will locate reasonably priced rooms and the attendees will be responsible for their room, meals and transportation costs. This event would probably take place sometime towards the end of April, actually at the onset of our discussion we thought to do it in conjunction with the Barber Motorsports AMA Superbike Races and partake of that wonderful facility, the museum and the races.
However we would like to pass the idea by you and see if it generates some interest, if so please post and answer the following:
Would you participate?
What would be your sugestion for a location?
What time of the year?
Your input will basically outline the preferences of all those that would be interested in attending and will make things easier for the organizers.
OK guys and gals, what is your pleasure?

Yes will participate, dates early April or late March as far south of mid-Atlantic as practical.
Where is Barber Motorsports Park? Alabama? Huntsville, Birmingham?
I'd go Arkansas for more Texas and Iowa riders to aim for...
Anything with contour lines close together is better than flatlands.

The Older I Get, The Less I Know.
I'll attend. BUT.......
But, trying to make two LONG trips back to back (April and May) would be difficult. I'd have to choose one over the other and I would prefer to do both. How about considering doing a Southern one in September or October?
Places? I don't have a clue.
I'd be willing to help though.

Barber sounds good to me. Even if not during a race event, the museum is something not to be missed by any motorcycle enthusiast.

The museum is in the distance, to the left.

I vote for a Fall date so it's easier for many of us to attend both. I'll go too. There's no need for it to be in the Spring. So far, none of the 3 bashes have been too hot to ride. I'd like some warm weather for the Fall Bash, no later than Oct. When leaves are turning, it also means they'll be on the road surface, so early-mid Oct in the South - - - somewhere in the mountains, like our 3 other bashes, where there are great rollercoaster roads.

My appologoies to all........I've been sleep at the wheel. I think that the fall date is the one to consider....maybe late September/early October.
I talked to Buddy, remember, he was on the new GS at the BBII, he is very familiar with the Arkansas area, of course we also have Birmingham and North Georgia/South Tennesse to think about.
Personally, Barber in Birgminham would be ideal, not only because we might be able to time it with a race but also because of the very fine museum that they have.
However this is a democracy, or is it, and I will tally the votes and report back.
BTW, Van is supposed to be part of this effort, however, it appears that he has been hiding under a large rock......come to think of it, we also need the help of one of our able female riders and I nominate you know who you are to help, so can you please stand up and be counted?
