Scotty, so far you, me, Tony K bike, Josh, Herb (sjbmw) and his son Tommy from NY/NJ.

What about you other gentlemen/ladies from other parts ?

I plan on leaving on Tuesday of that week...spending one night in Ohio probably, then 2nd night somewhere near the site, allowing for an early arrival/registration at the rally.

Herb and I also discussed taking the ferry across Lake Michigan.

Anyone else from the area?

EDIT: Hey Herb, just saw your post this morning.....

i may also have a buddy or two of mine join me from the island. one's got a Duc ST2 and a VStrom, the other has a big Vulcan cruiser.

any chance of finding a more scenic route to the rally than going through upper ohio and indiana?

There's a chance I may be able to join you guys. I'm trying to get in a trip to Chicago and Minneapolis next year during warm months to visit a couple friends. Wisconsin's further away, but lumping it in with my visit will save me time.

There's through Buffalo, into Canada, back into the USA at Sioux St. Marie and down. I've done that and it's p r e t t y scenic...

I am thinking about it, but as of now I have made no official plans. I should be able to go, but I may not know details until a little later.

I went to college in Buffalo so that way is kinda scenic...once you get passed the finger lakes region it flattens out and is kinda ok...perhaps if we come up through the southern tier and the snow belt areas around fredonia up into buffalo, it could be ok.

i was thinking of the canadian route but didn't know how much time/mileage it would add. but anything has got to be better than western ohio and indiana, right?

Better than Western OH, IN and some of IL. I could possibly meet up and do the northern route. Say meet in Niagra Falls, and then around the lakes into Wisconsin. Spend Fri and Sat at the Rally then try to get south of Chicago on Sat evvening, and blast home on Sunday.

Just thoughts. Nothing firm yet.

(Remember, you gotta have a passport if you go into Canada. Start the paperwork soon.)

Camping is the way to go at the Rally. No riding after a visit to the beer tent. :smt030
