2007....a good year to ride

Post by Just-Beeming »

It is cold
It is grey
It is nasty and dreary.

The only way I know to cheer my self up is to talk about better times.

My 2007 ride plans :smt098

In late April...Portland to Vegas. A day ride through Death Valley on the way just to remind me what Hot weather feels like. I have made this trip before and perhaps you recal my post from the Phoenix area last year.

In September we have 31 days.
Portland to Portland
Plan to leave Oregon and route north through Washington State
up to BC....East to Lake Loise, Banf and continue east
...then south through the Dakota's....I have never been there.
Black Hills, Mt Rushmore etc....
Continue east through the great lakes States
Hit a Rally in the Dells, Wisconsin on Sept 7-9th
onward to the U.P. and back north into Canada
East in Canada ...eventually to Maine.

This is the minimal plan....
We hope to have time to go to Nova Scotia but realize that this is at least another 3-5 days up and back. So like all good travelers we have Plan A and Plan B.

For our return route we are not firmed up but hope that it includes a pass thought Boulder, Colorado to see our special niece and nephews.

I would love your input regarding this Portland to Portland route.
....any thoughts on things we need to see...things we should NOT miss out on?

We are still in planning phase so input is really appreciated.

Carol,

It sounds like you have a great adventure ahead of you. Since you cannot see it all, take the time to enjoy the daylights out of what you do get to see. Don't forget that trip report!

Why not swing south for your return. You would have a chance to ride the Blue Ridge Parkway, or through WV. You may be able to hit the "National" Roadkill Cookoff in Marlinton, WV. Then ride through Missouri, or NW Arkansas.
