Looking at buying myself a R1150R...
There is a 2004 I found at a dealership and it has the following:
a set of BMW saddlebags, Staintune exhaust, sport windscreen, BMW tankbag and a Throttlemeister.
The dealer has all the services on record.
The only thing I was wondering about is how many miles is to many miles? The bike has 33,981 miles and is going for about $7190. If I could get it for somewhere in the 6k range would it be a good deal?

I surely wouldn't buy it for $7190 with 33K miles on it. $6Gs would be about right. One thing to consider, 33K miles on the bike is high if you decide to sell it sooner than later. Lets say you ride it and put 15-20K miles on it in a year or so. The bike will be less than 5 years old with nearly 50K miles on it. You will have a hard time selling it for any decent money. No problem if you keep it for a long time, as BMWs are capable of going a lot of miles with minimum problems and maintenance. There are many of them out there for sale with less miles, so I would use the high mileage as a bargaining chip. Just food for thought. If you can get it for $6K and it is in excellent shape and needs nothing, go for it. They are great bikes.

Generally the $2000 worth of options arent worth much when considering the price of a used bike. Thats why most people take them off their bikes and part them out seperately. Now, the price isn't too bad for an '04 but the mileage is high. The dealer will probably tell you some BS like 'thats not a lot of mileage for a BMW'. To some extent he's right, but it's still high mileage for a 3 year old bike. I noticed we have an '04 in the buy/sell/trade with only 9500 miles on it, lots of accessories and the price is $7500. I'd say if you can get him down to $6K it would be a good deal, otherwise look for a bike with less miles on it. You didn't say whether this bike has ABS on it or not? Personally, I like ABS and wouldnt have a bike without it. My $.02

I live in San Francisco. Oh, and the bike does not come with ABS. Which made me think that I would rather get something with lower miles and ABS.
I'm not one to search for a bike from to far away. I have not had good experiences traveling long distance to find out the bike is totally trashed.
I did find this bike though:
2005 r1150r w/ABS, Sport Windshield, side cases & top rack, heated grips and ext. warranty until 7/6/12. It has 9500 miles on it. Also a dealer but they want $9,490.00. I'm pretty sure that is not a good deal. I mean for a little more I can get a brand new bike. Maybe not an R series but a brand new one.
