The web site doesn't give the price per qt. Bet it's pricey. I think I'll stick with the stuff I've been running.

I won't say what brand for fear of starting a new oil thread!

Yeah Pricey, but look at the built in pouring apparatus. My funnel seems so primitive.

There is no avoiding an extended oil thread once anyone starts the topic. Like others I am compelled to respond and therefore extend yet another oil thread. So here goes...

This is marketing at it's best (worst?). To suggest that Boxers need still more specialized oil than has been pushed at us already is ludicrous. I'm sticking to the Rotella that I get by the box at Costco.

:-k Hmmm, maybe I should keep an open mind...No, my mind is made up!

I'm just posting a reply just to keep another oil thread alive

When are we going to start a tire pressure thread? How about an oil checking thread? Here's one of my favorites: ABS v. non ABS

I guess some people see "oil" in the heading and skip it all together.

FWIW, I was at my BMW dealer today buying some roundels for my topbox (£17 about $34 each).

The dealer was telling me that BMW now recommend Castrol ACT-EVO GP 4T 20W-50 for all boxer engines irrespective of mileage.

Only available in 1 litre packs - £9 from BMW about £5 elsewhere.

Castrol isn't listing this stuff on their site (at least that I could find)

Was it this (it actually has an 1100S pictured)

Or this

It was the first of the 2 links.

Am just completing an annual (start of summer) service so have just ordered some at 1/2 the BMW price (and that includes delivery).

I am not going to participate in another oil thread. I am not going to say that I just changed the oil and used

Mobil 1 synthetic 15W-50

genuine BMW oil filter

new crush washer
