Top Box and Panniers

Post by homerr1150r »

Hi, I am from the UK and was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on top boxes and panniers for my 2003 R1150R
Firstly I am looking for a top box with side rails so my wife can have something to rest against and hold. I am looking for quality stuff but at present cant seem to find anything about. Do BMW do their own stuff? If so where can I find it? Any photos or links would be appreciated.

Thanks
Darius

I love my system cases. The mounting brackets serve as handles for the passenger.

Not sure if it will fit the RR, but this top case might work for you:

The system cases are great on the RR they come in three sizes, the lids that is. The mounting as mentioned are good for the S.O. Don't have a pasenger so I just strap to the pillian seat with waterproof kayaking drybags. you could do the same on the rear rack that can be had with the mounting rails. These can be found used by folks selling the farckles separately from the bike.

Givi does a rack and top box for the R1150R. BMW has a soft topcase option that comes with a detachable rack. This is one instance where GIVI has done well; good value too.

Cheers

I'll give another vote for the System Cases and Givi topbox combo (I have the large E52 box). Works great, and no complaints from pillion - no real need for grabrails either, with the topbox acting as a bit of a backrest.

I too have the BMW rails and side cases (not cheap in the UK unless you can pick them up on eBay).

Also have a cheap 42 litre topbox (not BMW) but have badged it up with BMW roundels so that it looks the part even though the quality isn't quite there.

The topbox I got from Getgeared.co.uk for about £55 inc mounting plate.

pm me if you want some pics.
