J C Whitney Topbox

Anyone played with one of these yet? It looks much nicer than the other generic boxes I've seen from JCW.

I bought the large top case.

It works well and is a great value for money. The mounting plate is a waste of time. I went with the cutting board mod for a more stable platform. :smt023

The boxes are dry, look like the real thing. How ever the latch for the led is flimsy, the latch for the mount will brake. You get what you pay for. My advice is to through bolt the box to the bike. That way you won't have to stop to pick it up from the road.I'am still using mine.

I have this one

Previously, before getting rear-ended, I had a different J C Whitney box

They do keep your stuff dry, and they are a good value. I don't like the looks of top boxes, personally, even Givi ones, but they are functional.

J.C. Whitney frequently has sales, so you can get these pretty cheap.

I got an e-mail from NewEnough. They are selling an Emgo top box that looks a lot like the second J.C. Whitney box in my picture above. Price is $59.

I have the same one that Bob linked to at Newenough, the one in Bob's second pict. Bought it from J.C. Whitney years ago. Don't use it often, but it's been on several long trips with me, covering thousands of miles, and has worked flawlessly. Takes about 2 minutes to bolt the mounting plate to my rear rack, which holds it securely - just remember to push down on the box so it snaps into place on the mounting plate. Those who fail to do this WILL lose the box at the first big bump. Otherwise, the box is handy and waterproof. And a great deal for the price.

Just got mine!
Yeah, it looks a little cheesy, but hey... for $88 bucks and mount included... WHO CARES!!!
Givi is better quality, but i'm only using this one for the occasional tour/trip.
Will post my set up later
