F800R

Post by awagnon »

This link was posted on the BMWMOA forum showing a possible F800R. I don't know if it's been posted here or not.

Now that's funny. I just posted almost the same thing over in another thread with a picture from that article. Maybe the mods can "merge" these two together.

I like that picture, although it looks different from the orange version I saw earlier. I like this one better cause the tank trim up front hides that ugly frame bar.

This post was originally in the R1150R forum. I moved it here, but left a "shadow" in that forum.

Boxer, your post was in off-topic and the subject was about getting a new forum so I left it here. I should reply there and mention we have this new forum.

That pic looks suspiciously like a German dealer mock-up on the F800 board a couple of years ago - the tank in particular - except it has the steel frame and chain drive. I wonder how genuine the picture is. BMW have been denying the F800R for quite some time ... so maybe the story is a crock, too

There's link to a MUCH better looking orange one over there: http://moxnix.smugmug.com/photos/268188057_JQKtL-M.jpg

At least the orange one has belt drive - I'm on my second F650CS and like the belt system. After a couple of Ducati's (bevel drive 900SS & Darmah) I've sworn off chains for life.

If the F800R uses the F"650"GS frame it would be very rideable for smaller riders . At 5'8" I can't sit the 800 but can sit the "650". In fact, it feels as "right" as do the R1150R, R1200R and my F650CS: BMW just seem to get great seat / bars / pegs relationships on roadsters.

BUT ..BMW could simply put a street mudguard on the F"650", use the R12R light brackets (on the silver mock-up anyway) and there's a F650R or F800R without a fugly tank. Stil has a @#* chain though ....
