They're 18-8 stainless with 10mm x 1.5mm male end and 10mm x 1.25mm female end. I saw them at http://www.mcmaster.com/#standoff-spacers/=agnqny. When you get to that page, you might have to click on "Thread Adapters & Spacers." The part number is 92499A712. They're a little expensive ($13.95) but cheaper than a Time-Sert kit."

Pleased to report that this fix worked for me. McMasters sent the adapters in less than two days for std shipping. I had ordered the Aprilia mirrors for my R1200R. The threads were completely wrong. I don't think they could have been forced without a lot of damage. With the adapters. No problem. The rubber boot that comes with the Aprilias only comes down to the base of the adapter but it still looks fine.

If I were truly anal I'd see if I could order the boot from Aprilia but it's really not needed.

The Aprilia mirrors are significantly better. Wider field of view, better shape. I don't know how much I saved over BMW. I don't know if I had ordered BMW 800 GS bases for the Aprilia mirrors...if that would have worked. But on my R1200R, the Aprilia mirrors with the McMaster adapters ....worked. Worked great.

Glad that worked for you. McMaster is a great source for hardware and usually you can order in relatively small quantities. Problem I have is their web site is a little cumbersome to navigate around in. I sent for a paper copy of their catalog and have spent more than a few hours just looking through it.
Also a good source for bearings ,you just have to order by bearing number.

I can also confirm success with the Aprilia Tuono mirrors (part numbers AP8104921 and AP8104922, $25 each) fitted to my 2008 R1200R using two M10 x 1.5 male M10 1.25 female adapters from McMaster-Carr (part number 92499A712, $13.95 each). The rubber sleeve from Aprilia doesn't quite go all the way down over the adapter and I wish I didn't have to use the adapter because of the added height but it all came together nicely. I like the look and what appears to be increased visibility.

P.S. The money I saved by doing it this way instead of direct from BMW was enough to convince me joining this website was worth doing so, so I did.

^How is the vibration? I've got some cheap knock offs and they are terrible in both vibration and visibility. The mirror used in this Hong Kong knockoff magnifies the image so my field of vision is reduced when looking in them. My friends seem to have awesome luck at HK ebay items so for $20 I thought I'd try my luck.

Any recommendation on a legit supplier?

No the rubber boot does not cover the extra standoffs....yes, all the Chinese mirrors are rubbish.

All that extra hardware, why not just run a 10x1.25mm tap and blue loctite....done.
The only reason for the 1.5mm pitch was to keep you at the dealer parts counter.

Better to just get BMW F800 GS version of the Aprilia mirrors,
BMW Part # 51167715863, 51167715864 ~$74 each with the BMW 51167673982 Clamping nuts with the 10mm x1.5mm thread.
moto-science 7132/33 ~$45 each with the BMW 51167673982 Clamping nuts with the 10mm x1.5mm thread.

Rubber boot is 51167673983 separately......

I've never had any luck with cheap motorcycle mirrors (and I have a box full of them). Although the OEM mirrors are usually expensive they usually work much better than the aftermarket stuff.
I guess it all depends on how interested you are in what's flying up behind you when you decide to change lanes.

Yes, the best mirrors still come from Italy or Germany....not China.
