mkerr,
I am thinking of making the same custom flyscreen that DJ downunder fabricated.
How did the MRA Vario mounts work out?
do you have any pics of the final assembly?
mkerr wrote:no I never had the flyscreen...the full windshield came with it, and there are differrent mounts.
I think Ill take gordium7's advice about the MRA Vario Mounts. Much cheaper than the BMW originals.
Hello Gordium7,
I was successful in getting an F650 flyscreen and I was wondering if you could post some pics of your finished DJ screen with the MRA brackets?
Gordium7 wrote:If you are interested in the DJ version of the flyscreen, and you DO NOT have the BMW mounting brackets already, there is a equivalent part available (and much cheaper).
This part is exactly the same as the BMW flyscreen ones (only black vs. silver), but are only 40% of the cost. You may need to spring for bolts of the correct size though. I suspect MRA was BMW's original supplier.
I put together a DJ flyscreen over a year ago using these brackets, and I am very happy with the flyscreen, the brackets, and the look it gives my bike.

This thread that you dug up has been inactive for about 3 and a half years (middle of 2008). I haven't seen Gordium7 post on the board for a long time either. I wouldn't hold your breath for a response from him.
I was dreaming when I wrote this, forgive me if it goes astray...

I cut my Parabellum down last year and love the screen now.
Great job on cutting the screen.
With a dremel? any tips? I have one that I am very tempted to cut down.
I'd recommend using a hand-held jigsaw and a coarse, new, wood blade. Cover the screen with masking tape, mark your cuts, cut. This is how I did it and found it much easier than using the Dremel tool.

Thanks Xdot.
I had considered this but I want some options for a change out in the future when touring.
Did a ride from Monterey CA to Bend OR and my parabellum was a life saver.
Looking to make something that still protects the headlight/cluster chrome but has that naked street look for when the Red Bull Moto GP comes to town.

Thank you for taking the time to post some shots Gordium.
I just scored the GS screen plate and am super psyched to get this mounted.
Also found a rattle can of the Atlanta blue to match the bike. This is going to look amazing.
Gordium7 wrote:Howdy all! Yes, I am still alive...
I will take a few shots ASAP, but they will look identical to DJ Downunders I think.
The MRA Vario mounts are identical to the BMW ones, except powdercoated black.
