Hello,
I have done some searching here on the forum and can't find much on the R1100S. I have an 2002 R1150 with ABS. I am looking at a nice 1999 R1100S without ABS. I am going to look at it on Friday. I'll be keeping the 1150R and not looking for a world beater sport bike, just something a little more aggressive than the 1150R. Any comments, or advice on this bike would be much appreciated.
Thanks,

The place for the S is over at Pelican Parts. Google them and find a great big board full of enthusiasts.
As with any other bike of this type, look for maintenance over anything else.

I have one of these. very nice machine. light and nimble. Very easy to work on - single spark, little tupperware, no ABS but brakes are excellent Brembos. mine has a Zteknik titanium exhaust and a DFO. lots of fun. with system cases, like any oilhead, this thing goes forever. watch for surging issues.

I had one of those, same year. Brembos were truly excellent. Had a Corbin single seat with the hump in the back. Excellent as well. But the riding position was too difficult for me so I sold it. Next bike was a R1200GS. Just sold that and am now riding an R1200R.
