Just a FYI - pruning users may make you DEACTIVATED!! :)

Post by Doug »

We just wanted to give you all a heads up that we instituted a new policy to help keep the board slim and working well. We prune users who are of a certain registration age and have not posted anything ("0 posts"). Some of you have been caught up by this (sorry about that!). If you don't wish to have any issues going forward, just post a message or two somewhere so the system doesnt think you are a dead account and auto locks you out.

If you did get locked out and it says your account was deactivated (Should be a very small number of you), please just let me know and accept my apologies ahead of time for the hassle.

This was part of a spam alleviation program that the moderators and I have instituted on the back end that seems to be working quite well - you may have noticed the almost total lack of spam in the last month or so. Its a little more work for us in some ways, but it keeps the spammers off the site and posting.

Thanks for your patience/understanding during this little change! Ride safe everyone.

Thanks for this, Doug. I did notice that there was a spike in spam this spring, and that it's gone away. Lovely!

Thanks for the heads up. More inclined to read than post (I have lots to learn), and enjoy the site.

Cheers,

I understand why your doing this and it's a good thing. I am a lifetime member that rarely posts anything. Are the lifers safe from this? Thanks

I'm a lifetime member. Though I haven't posted anything or done any riding since my accident in 2010, I still have my '02 R in the garage but haven't had the time or resources to get around to repairing it. Please don't remove me!

I am also a lifetime member and can't remember if I've ever posted anything. My '03 R1150R is tucked away in a garage in Seattle and rarely gets ridden, but I have an airhead on the East Coast that gets ridden a lot. Some day, I'll have to switch the bikes around.
