Brakes question

My 2002 1150R came w/ABS brakes. Now it has the "flashing lights syndrome" virus which I plan to eventually cure by going to manual brakes. The servo assisted front brakes work as always but the rear brakes are essentially useless unless extreme pressure is applied; then just barely work. This presents no problem for me as 99% of my brake usage is via the front brakes. The questions:Is the ABS functioning for the front brakes and is there a chance/likelyhood that they could develop the same problem that affects the rear? This problem is so aggravating that I have seriously thought of selling the bike but otherwise it performs perfectly and I enjoy riding it. Even bought and still have a Yamaha FJ1300 which is also a great bike.
