Saddlebags / Top Case & Guards

Post by NorCalSaint »

My first post! Although I have been doing a ton of reading so thanks for all the advice :)

New owner of a 2004 with only 7k miles & can't wait to see the miles continue to climb.

I have the OEM saddlebag rails/tail and would like to know if I have any choices in a top case that would mount right up?
I would prefer a case that has some sort of back rest for the passenger.

Second question: Since I have heated grips, will the GS hand guards still work for my bike?

Thanks in advance, Steve

Hi,

I just recently installed the hand guards on my bike (R1150 Rockster - sadly the slower green one, lol). You just have to mount them 'inside-out' - mount the edge that is closer to the middle of the bike and then use the flex in the plastic to attach it to the bar ends.

The right side requires slightly more creativity. I've read on here you have to angle the 'banjo' joint down a bit.

Good luck and welcome aboard!

Thanks Kobe22.

Not sure I want to rig something but I will have to research it more.

BTW, Mine is also the slower green one :)

Im relatively new here as well having puchased my roadster earlier this year. Going into the puchase I was convinced that I wanted a topbox also. I liked the look of topbox sans sidecases(and still do). After reading and listening I decided to get the side cases((I also had mount rails in place) and to go without topcase.

Just one thing to keep in mind.
You can't get a Schuberth C3 into the right pannier.
The left pannier is almost only a lid due to the exhaust.
