Slight CHOKE problem

Post by Lob »

My CHOKE/fast idle has recently been very hard to close off but now it's become easy....sadly the reason is that the position 1 does not actually do anything any more. So to start it, I have to put the thing into position 2 and hold it.

What do the more learned members thing it could be? Cable? Switch issue? I am unsure as the stickiness suggests it's the switch but it's more likely that the cable's slipped or has issues.

Cheers :)

Edited because I somehow typed clutch not CHOKE. Well, you must have got it with fast idle..... =D>

probably the spring clip in the lever assembly itself has snapped (rust).

Or the tiny ball-bearing has gone walkabout.

if you decide to disassemble it , I'd advise doing it in a clean room, with plenty of light, as it's a classic pingfucit.

RB, I assume you cottoned onto the fact that it's the choke assembly.....

sounds like a real pain the backside.....it's due in the shop for them to fix some of their repairs so I'll ask there. I can see it all going walkabout if I do it.....!

Like any Bowden cable system, it's a bit awkward, especially when filthy. ;)
