$$ Rockster Buy or Sell Actual Prices Paid Rising $$

Post by DKSTRWER »

Guys, check this out. Mouse across the bar chart at the bottom of the page. Some owners don't know the value of what they have. A Lime Green 2004 with 23,000+ miles went for $8,000+ at the recent Barrett Jackson in Scottsdale AZ. An Ed 80 went for $7,800 in a private sale to an investor in NZ a few weeks ago. A 100% perfect 3,000+ mile Orange recently sold for $7,950. Now 11 yrs on and even more rare than when new, actual prices paid have been going up. NADA & KBB are irrelevant in this market, they base bike values on an age & average mileage formula computing 5,000 - 6,000 miles per year as *average, plus formula depreciation etc.

Granted the higher paid prices are for low-miles virtually pristine stock examples. The green one had system bags and other OEM add-ons. I saw one go to Europe and another to Asia. Also, the four "Paycheck" movie bikes sold very high, which draws savvy investor/collector and buyer attention. The sub-par bikes seem to bring mid $4,000 range, thrashed ones below that because OEM parts & labor are huge costs that make restoration financially unsound compared to buying a good one.

If you are selling be aware there are *vultures out there who know the score. At this point in time unaware average buyers want NADA/KBB prices and you might want to educate them on what is going on in the Rockster marketplace. This does not appear to affect prices of the GS, regular R1150R, RT. Just Rocksters as far as I have witnessed.
